Purchased a new Kahr P380 and ordered enough ammo for the manufactures recommended break in. I will head to the range and report back. Very excited!

If it's like mine, I predict you'll love it. And if you don't reload, then it might be a great excuse to start! I started my reloading adventures 20 years ago with the purchase of a Beretta 84F (since long gone), and have enjoyed shooting many more rounds for the same cash outlay.

If it's anything like my new PM9 you will love it and probably never part with it.
Keep us updated on how it does because I might break down and buy one myself.

I also just bought a P380 (with night sights). I tested it on my back yard range Thursday and it worked 100% with both FMJ and with Gold Dots. It will serve as an understudy to my PM40.

So far my P380 is miles ahead of my Keltec PTA3 in natural pointing, sighting clarity, trigger quality, and accuracy. Unlike the Keltec, it just oozes quality. My Keltec has never jammed and has served me well, but it won't see much duty from this point forward.

I am extremely satisfied with my new pistol. It functioned perfectly with all the FMJ ammo. The only malfunctions were with the PDX1 ammo. I determined the problem to be one of the magazines and not the fault of the gun or ammo. The first cartridge of the offending magazine would ram itself against the feed ramp and not go into battery. The other magazine worked fine.

The recoil was very manageable. I developed a small blister on the right side of my trigger finger but I fired nearly 300 rounds in a short period of time due to my wife being so kind as to load magazines.

The stainless steel cleans up well. All the brass was in a pile at my feet.
One thing I noticed was some of the brass landing directly on my head!

My other defensive handguns are a pair of Glocks; models 23 and 27. I don't foresee myself feeling very under powered with this gun as my summer carry pistol. In fact I may still carry it when the weather cools back down in the winter instead of going back to one of it's larger brethren.

I would recommend this gun to anyone wanting a pocket pistol of higher quality than the more popular models. I am sure they are fine guns as well, but the overall form and function of this model warrant the extra money in my opinion considering the purpose behind carrying it.

One other observation, the Winchester PDX1 appears to be quality ammo for the price but I will continue to use the Hornady Custom 90 Grain XTP. Function was not an issue with the PDX1 but the Hornady looks to have been manufactured to a greater standard. The PDX1 looked dirty and not uniform compared to the Hornady ammo.

If anyone is considering purchasing one of these and has any questions please ask and I will answer as best as I can with my limited experience with this weapon.

Thanks!

I have found reloading to be as much fun as a hobby as shooting!

I did not like lack of sights on the Kel-Tec. I would have liked to have purchased a product made here in Florida but was not impressed with the gun compared to the Kahr. When I went to the gun shop I was originally comparing the LCP to the P3AT. He brought out the P380 and a P238 to compare and I was sold on the Kahr in no time. I prefer the striker over the hammer on the Sig. I has all the features I like in a defensive pistol without the ones I don't.

Congrats on the new Kahr. I ALMOST got that model when it first came out, but opted for the PM9 instead.

But, it is a nice 380!
