New Lee inline bullet feeder/rotary magazine for SPP/Pro 6000 - Beta testing

Can .44 magnum work with this. I am trying to figure out how to set this up. I have the .45 die and the various parts for the magazine tubes. A .44 magnum bullet just drops right through the die. According to the lee website description, it will accept a bullet between .395 - .460 which my bullet is within. Then in another place it says it fits a diameter of .435 - .460, which is too big. Not sure what to do. The .40 die lists a diameter much less than my .44.

Decided to contact lee. Apparently the size discrepancy is a mistake and it should not say .395 - .460. It should say .435 - .460. So, at this time, you cannot load .44 mag with the inline bullet feed system.

I was curious enough to go look

I the listing of calibers that the bullet feeder die is designed to feed, neither the .41Mag or .44Spl/Mag are listed. While the rifle dies list a calibers that the die is designed to feed, they have the addition of "and similar"...which the pistol caliber dies do not

.435 - .460 is what is on my 45 Cal. Label

That is a shame, I bought the 45 die assuming it would do both also.

In the beginning Lee said the 44 was not going to be one of the sizes offered unless there was enough interest, "they will be available in; 35CAL, 40/41CAL, 45CAL, 22CAL, 30CAL, and 26CAL. Depending on reception and demand we will consider 24CAL and 44CAL."

Have to wait and see.

That sucks. Glad I called. Hopefully someone put another tic in a box with my call…

Just finished setting mine up. Screwed in the die until bullet dropped and one half turn more. Dropped a bullet every time. Was having issue with tipped bullets or bullets falling out as the press indexed. I was using mixed brass and thought that could be problematic. Looked here and LiveLife already researched. Set expander die to .382 flare and bingo that seem to be the magic number. I’m not feeling it tonight to do a bigger run, but in limited testing this seems like it will work. I wish the magazine had less play but it’s similar in nature to the case feed,

I also set mine up tonight, but I haven't run anything through yet. Just made sure it would drop a bullet. Loaded it up with about 100 38 special bullets. Had a bit of trouble turning the die because my powder check was in the way and I didn't want to remove it... But I got it. Yeah, it just kind of flops around. But as long as it works. The flair was already big enough, so I think I'm good there. I might run a few tonight - or definitely tomorrow and see what happens.

Ran about 15 rounds through. No problem whatsoever. Pretty happy with it so far. The slightest quibble I have is that the tube that is in the position for dropping the bullets is not visible from where I sit. And that is where I have to sit. So, I will have to remember to poke my head behind every now and then to see when I need to turn the magazine. Plus, even if looking directly at it, you can't see how many bullets are left once they are stacked in the die, but below magazine level. I suppose I'll figure it all out. I guess if a bullet doesn't come out, time to turn :).

Do you not have space to rotate the magazine around so the feeding tube faces you?

I had to do that after I originally set up the die...but it was pretty easy with the Breech Lock. I have my bullet feeder die in Station #4 and my powder measure in Station #3. It is a bit more involved that on my Hornady because the Lee die needs to rotate a bit more than the Hornady bushing; but it wasn't too difficult

Four
At least that is how many RMR 9mm 147gr Matchwinners or Brazos .45ACP 200gr SWCs will fit in the die body

I agree. You should be able to rotate by about 90 degrees in one direction or another because of the breech locks. I had to do the same as my primer tray was hitting the magazine. Its tight on top of the press with a powder measure, primer tray, case tubes, and bullet tubes. You should be able to find a formula.

I held off completing my Six Pack Pro setup and use till the bullet feeder was in hand. IMHO the new inline feeder kit -9mm- works very well. MY problem was none of my rounds plunked into my Wilson gauge. Last night I solved through trial and error (it finally dawned on my aging brain) that the cause was NOT the sizing die (as I'd assumed) but that I was putting too much flare with my powder drop/flaring die. I've dialed that bad boy back to the minimum flare to keep most bullets in place and VIOLA! - plunk city on all rounds. So proof that even a tired old dog like me can learn a new trick or two.

A Lee Factory Crimp Die properly adjusted in the last spot (#6) will help with that.

I purchased 3 of the inline dies (35, 40, 45) when in stock, got the 3 magazines this weekend. One of the neat things about the dies that I've found if expanding just enough to balance the bullet, the spring in the die actually pushes the bullet further in to seat. That allows me to expand just enough where the cases still fit in the gauge but also accept the bullet.

I kinda solved that magazine clearance problem 10 years ago, before they were even sold.
I have been using 3ft. long tubes acquired from an aquarium supply store, so no magazine is needed (for me).

Each prefilled tube holds 50 bullets and only needs changing once before primers need to be added also.
Those long tubes do need some type of support though, I have this guide attached to a shelf above the bullet feed die.

This could be an alternative should anyone become frustrated with those Lee magazines.

Yeah, I got it positioned a little better. Just had to readjust the powder check to make everything fit. Can't see the red light, but it also has an audio warning, so it'll work. Ran about 70 more today. A few bullets fell off, but not too many. I feel like the flare is wide enough. Not too worried about it. I have one bigger issue with the press right now which I don't want to post here because it's off topic.

In my medium magazine the tubes slide in and out with no effort, really have to be careful handling them. The tubes in my large magazine are really tight so much so I don’t think they’ll ever come out. How are yours fitting ? Maybe I should call Lee or is this normal ?

In both my large and medium magazines the tubes are pretty tight...both top and bottom

Are you using the clear or amber tubes?...mine came with 2 sets

I’m using the clear ones, what are you using ? I’ll check the yellow ones later, but I think they’re smaller. Looks like a call to Lee is in order. Thanks

Broke out the calipers and tubes are .435 should be .445 no wonder they just fell out. Lee is sending out new ones, great customer service.

44 Cal die came today.

Tested with 240 grain cast, jacketed and plated. All worked just as advertised out of the box (balls were in correct holes for these bullets).

You are good to go now.
