Newly Registered here

Hey Gang:

Decided to register, almost every time I search for some comment, review or comparison, this site comes up, so I wanted to join.

I will contribute the bit I know and hope to learn a lot!

New comer

You asked for it. I'm 63 years of age. A retired USAF Msgt. Have been around guns all my life. Do most all of my own repair work. Just love guns in general. They do what I tell them to and they don't talk back. They always perform flawlessly as long as they are maintained properly. Hope I can contribute something here. I must say that I like THRs stance. It's almost embarassing to read some of the other forums. Keep it up.:):):)

Well it's supposed to say New Comer.

Hi, I am from South Africa. Unfortunately our firearm laws in this country are very strict, but I have decided to start the extremely long process of obtaining a firearm. Because of all the strict laws and limitations to the number of firearms a person is allowed to own, I wanted to learn a lot about firearms beforehand. Many searches I performed ended up at this forum, so I decided this must be the best place to learn what I can.

Hi,

Ive been lurking too long. Im from South Central Colorado. I work out at Ft Carson.

I primarily like bolt action rifles in any flavor. I like to work on my own rifles when I can and I like shooting them even better.

My other love is fishing.

Hello. I am in my 50s, in central Virginia. I came to really appreciate and start learning about guns only in the last few years. Primary gun interests are handguns for home defense / carry. I am hoping to get into IDPA or similar shooting for fun and extra practice, as well as some kind of rifle shooting as I think it's something I should have at least basic skills with.

I realized that almost every time I did a search, some of the best threads I found were on this site, so thought it was past time to join. I am a big believer in the 2nd Amendment, a limited federal government based on the constitution, low taxes and citizen legislators instead of professional politicians. I am a member of the local TEA Party, the NRA, and the Virginia Citizens Defense League (a statewide pro-gun organization here in VA).

Greetings from North Louisiana

Hello, I am Kenneth & new to the forum.

I already posted a query on handloading for one of my rifles, a Ruger M77 in 35 Whelen. My other rifle is a Browning BLR in .358 Winchester. As you can see I am a 35 caliber fan. Most of my rifle experience has been with a Ruger M77 in 30/06 which I no longer own. I also gained handgunning experience with a Smith & Wesson 29-3 in .44 magnum. My shooting mentor has always been my father-in-law, who spent time in the Navy during WW2 stationed in Borneo guarding Japanese prisoners with a Thompson submachine gun. Of course, he learned to shoot with the 1903A3 Springfield, and over the years he has turned many of those into hunting rifles. I was in the US Army briefly and carried the M16, then later the M1911 in .45 ACP when my job changed. I was an Infantry officer. Glad to be aboard.

Hello all!
I'm new to the forum and also to guns. I'm 61, a retired Railroad man and my wife and I are interested in shooting. We figure it's something we can enjoy together. I own a Beretta Px4F Compact and a Ruger SP101. I plan on getting a S&W M&P 15-22 A1 style rifle. It looks like a fun gun that you could shoot all day and not break the bank. Very interesting stuff here. I know trains, not guns so I'm going to keep my opinions to myself for a while and just read what you guys have to say. If I have a question I'll be sure to ask. I used to tell my engineers "there are no stupid questions". I think I'll take my own advice.
Looking forward to learning a lot.

Hello folks my name is troy and im from homestead fl i found this great site while searching for ballistic info. I liked it enough to join immediately but have been lax in introducing myself my appologies. Im an avid hunter shooter and frogger but a novice reloader. I also build and torture test airboats for fun. My dogs are my constant companions when conditions permit. 20 years ago i met a gal in the swamp who has managed not to strangle me and we are still goin strong thank the lord. Well thats me i hope i can give back some useful information in return for all thats been received.

i just signed up the other day and have already found out THR members are the nicest of any forum. although i just joine, i have relyed on THR for years to research different things. i am 26 years old and in seminary. when i get a break in my reading, i fiddle/build/or shoot my guns. i have built a couple of heavy barrel "sniper" rifles on AR platforms. my newest project is out of a .308 remington 700. 3 shots in the same hole at 100 yards so far. want an XLR chasis in a bad way but it may be a while on that. i have just recently started reloading about a year ago, so i pretty much enjoy everything about guns and this forum. thanks for making it a great place and making newbies feel welcome.

Hello all, glad to get the opportunity to join here. I'll try and keep my mouth shut unless I can contribute. Good shootin.

I'm a college student trying to get into shooting more. I want to start reloading becasue .45 acp gets expensive. I also want to collect some WWII weapons. My favorite gun so far is my Springfield Mil-Spec. I spend way to much time researching random gun facts.

Hello to all...I've been around guns all my life, and love to hunt and shoot. I'm familiar with rifles, shotguns and handguns. I'm glad i found the forum and know it will be fun to read and add a couple cents now and then.

I've got a real fondness for 7.62 battle rifles,Varmint guns, accurate .22's, ruger mk pistols, .357&.44mag DA revolvers, and Italian shotguns. and all the other types of guns well , I like them too.

Hi everyone. This is an awesome site. It's come up in a ton of my google searches but I've finally bit the bullet (pun intended) and joined up. I've had the privilege of shooting just about everything with a projectile my entire life and love every aspect of it.

Just launched a new site a little over a week ago called HausofGuns.com with the intention of taking my hobby up a notch. Give it a look if you have a chance. Any and all feedback and review suggestions are appreciated too!

My name's Damon, and I'm in Neb. I'm a new member and I found this site by accident. I was looking up information on deer rifles and here we are..... I'm a bow hunter that's going to convert to rifle this fall.

Hi, Im new to this forum. I found it searching information about the SW MP40. I am a Puerto Rico state police officer. Here in PRPD the agency is moving from SW 5906 9mm to MP40.

Howdy y'all. I like black powder revolvers, and I even clean 'em when I get home. Also, I enjoy shooting .22's. I have three repro black powder revolvers; two Remington (one each .44 and .36) and a Colt Navy in .36. The Remingtons are a lot easier to handle, and they shoot better too.

There's a lot of great info here, and I thank y'all for allowing me to hang around this 'site. Ricardo X

Hi everyone and thanks for having me. Basically Im a 30Yr retired Navy/CG gunner (CWO4-WEPS) retired now 6 years and finally getting re-interested in shooting my AR/50 BMG again. Its taken a long time to get the desire to shoot again after being involved with small arms, major weapon systems, ordnance/range training day in and out for 30 years. Since I have never reloaded before this part of ordnance has re-sparked my interest and Im in the final stages of setting up my RCBS 50 BMG Ammo-master which I have had in storage new for 7 years. Cant wait to start reloading my old 50 BMG and .338 brass, and measuring results at our local 1000 yard range. Iv been searching this form for info/data and decided to join.
:D
