new guy from North Georgia

Howdy all,

Been lurking here for years and decided there was no harm in taking part :) I'm a shooter/reloaderthat operates a welding and machine shop. I like most all well-made firearms; however, I have a soft spot for the old ones. This week I am filing for my "FFL-03" aka "C&R". I CC in Georgia (I've CC'd since '04), and just upgraded my carry gun from the Stainless Taurus, to the Titanium 5-shot .38spl+P. As mentioned, I love casting and reloading, and am currently modifying a bunch of .38spl brass in my machine shop to accept 209 primers for "wax rounds" to facilitate some "safe" practice of defensive and "combative" shooting. I am a safety nut that loves to responsibally exercise my rights, and help educate others about the importance of doing likewise. I look forward to comraderie of others!

I'm Curtis

Hi all.. I'm Curtis and have been a member for a couple months. Mostly plinking and shooting at the local range. Obviously, I hope to never use my guns for home protection, but like having them around.

Thanks THR for such an awesome sight. The more I read on here the more interesting things I find to read. It's addictive! I don't post a lot but really appreciate all the good info to be found on here.

So I feel like everytime I google something, the answer is here on The High Road. Doing this enough times has finally made me decide to register.

Howdy from Central Fl

My bio would be long and most would not believe it anyway.
Been around a bit, used to hunt and track in my younger days, did some ranching and farming while I grew up, went to college and worked in the arts.
I'm disabled now but still like to shoot when I can. Just got a HK45c for my birthday and like it so far. I am a supporter of gun ownership and write my reps (state and fed) regularly.
Sooooo.... howdy!
(edit) Oh, I dream of someday owning a peacemaker & AK.

Obligatory intro!

Hi Folks, I'm a shooter from Donegal, (Ireland). Have been lurking for a while, so gotta post sometime:)
You guys have great access to firearms, unlike here, though things had improved a great deal since the early 1980's. Then it was no handguns, .22lr rifles only unless you had a deer hunting licence (then you could get a 22-250) and shotguns (pump and semi auto restricted to three rounds only). Now we can have .22lr pistols (target only), rifles up to .308 (bolt action) and the usual shotgun selection. Technically you can get semi auto centrefires but they are subject to a restricted licence. You have to have 'good reason' to have any firearm (home defence is not a 'good reason'!!)and all have to be licensed. I currently have a BRNO model 2 .22lr and a Bettinsoli Diamond 12 guage O/U which took about three months each to get a license for! You have to be pretty determined to get a boom stick in this neck of the woods.
Great site, I've enjoyed the contibutions.

former jarhead. own a defense contracting firm in northern va. got some new products for long range shooters, just wanted to share them with y'all.

Hello

Hello all.

I reside in Virginia.
I am a father and husband, a former Active Duty U.S. Marine, and now full time Brazilian Jiiu-Jitsu Fighter.

While I was in the Corps, I didn't receive any pistol training due to the fact that my MOS didn't require it. So while I have shot a lot of machine guns, I am kinda new to hand guns.

After acquiring my CH Permit, I purchased a Glock 19 Gen 4. Fine pistol, for sure. But I have always shot .45's better (range rentals or a buddy's firearm- a lot of them are either former military, SEAL's, LEO or all of the above), so I just purchased a Sig P220 with my tax return :neener:. Needless to say I have become a regular at my local range .

Anyhow, thanks for having me and I am sure I will gain a lot of knowledge from all of you.

Hi all,

Looks like a great forum.
I used to shoot smallbore when I was a kid, and continued through rotc at WVU. Don't hunt much anymore, but like to target shoot when I can find the time.

Thanks,

Corey

I love researching new gun projects and am a manual and armorer's course nut with an insatiable appetite for reading and studying schematics. I have an AR issue I'd like to throw out there but do not know if this is the place (actually, I couldn't find that place!). I've been absent but always a reader, would like to now say hi to all of you and congrats for THR in it's eighth year.

I'm back. I was a reg. from 6 years ago but lost my computer. I love old guns and black powder firearms. :)

Hello all,

I'm from Eastern NC and interested in learning more about shotguns. I am also interested in how to get started in reloading. I am a single father and enjoy teaching my children a healthy respect and the enjoyment of shooting and hunting.

HOWDY from Vancouver

Greetings from Soviet Canuckistan....Old dude in my 50's but just started shooting in the past year. I wish I'd started sooner.
So far, my arsenal includes a CZ455 in .22LR with a 2-7x28 Leupold scope.
A Ruger single six (Man, that thing is fun to shoot) --so far, the keeper of the bunch.
A Russian SKS --haven't fired this bad boy yet.

Getting kinda interested in a lever action .357 and maybe a matching single action revolver, heh heh.....And of course, at some point I simply MUST get a shotgun.....It's a sickness, I tell you.

Don't get me wrong---being Canadian is pretty good, but when it comes to firearms laws, I wish I was an American. Man, we have some crazy laws up here. Fortunately we're not as bad off as the Britons and Australians in this regard (YET). Cherish your second amendment rights, people.

Hello. I moved to Colorado Springs in 2001 from Alabama where I was deep into guns of all kinds. I relocated here with my kids to start a new life. I lost all of my guns to my Ex stealing them from me when she split however I am not bitter. I got our kids, and here I am ten years later, my kids and I are doing well. I was able to secure my Glock 17, Baretta 9mm, Winchester 30/30 (got my first deer with this one) and my Ruger 10/22. She got all the rest (far too many to list).
Recently was gifted membership at Whistling Pines Gun Club. I also recently purchased a Ruger Mark III Hunter. I really am looking forward to getting back into this interest.

Hey everyone, I'm Frank. I reside in Michigan, near Detroit, originally from Canada. I'm 21, and just took my CPL classes recently (just waiting for my next paycheck to bring it up to the sheriff). My father is an avid hunter, so I grew up around firearms (although never shared his want to hunt), and I used to shoot competitive archery growing up. I recently became interested in handguns, and our right to carry. I plan on purchasing my first firearm as soon as my taxes come back!
I've been lurking the forums for a few weeks now, decided to join in the discussions

Greetings from Alaska!

I've been lurking here off and on for most of a decade, so I finally decided to register.

I suppose my biggest interest in firearms (aside from enabling one to be far more self-reliant than without them) is in fiddling with them. I like carefully tuning a handload to the barrel's resonance, and working up loads to the peak performance for a firearm. I also like doing those customizations that one can do safely at home. (My Saiga .308 project was quite successful and quite fun, and TBH, the Dinzag trigger is the best trigger on any of my firearms.)

New member. Not gonna list all my guns because I'm sure eventually this thread will be watched closely. And at that time I hope all of you have the same paranoid manner.

Hello, new guy from South Dakota here. As many have mentioned, THR always pops up when I do research, so I figured it was time to register. I grew up hunting and trapping in rural Iowa, with my Dad always stressing firearm safety.

I figure I've been shooting for over 20 years now. My first rifle was a Ruger 10/22. A few years later, I got a Remington Model 11 (made in 1934) from a local sportsman auction for $250. At the time, I was earning $20 a day washing dishes at my great aunt's cafe on Saturday mornings, I saved up for a long time for that one. Later I got a Knight .50 cal muzzleloader for Christmas.

Fast forward through college when I was broke and didn't have much time for hunting or shooting, now I've gotten back into the swing of things. My recent additions are the two rifles pictured below. I picked up the Remingtion 700 SPS Tactical in .223 (bottom) last fall on the reccomendation for being an accurate, budget minded rifle from my cousin who works as a gunsmith. I've been very pleased with the performance so far, my first three shots when sighting in (50 yards) were stacked on top of each other, and have been consistently getting 1 MOA groups (not very good at shooting yet). The second rifle (top) is another Ruger 10/22. I kind of got on the idea of making a 'big brother/little brother' pair of rifles, hence the matching optics (Mueller), rings (DNZ), and stocks (Hogue). Don't get me wrong here, I'm not obsessed the 'tacticool' look, it just started with the Rem., I really like the traditional stuff too.

Hi!
I'm a new female member who loves to shoot! I go shooting with my husband every chance I get. So far it's only been 22's and my husband's old 32 pistol but I hope to graduate eventually. I would eventually like to go all the way up to a high powered rifle to hunt deer but I haven't found one yet that suits me.

found this by accident,

was doing a search for CCI primers that did not require a bank loan to obtain, and the search brought this forum up, someone was complaining bitterly about the CCI No 41's not fitting in the primer pocket for his reloads, although i did not reply to that post in particular, looked around a bit and saw a forum that i might want to involve myself in

Am a retired US Marine, Dec 26 1963, Feb 19, 1989 (couple of years broken due to a visit to Khe Sahn and not liking the results) I like to shoot, I like to compete, and my goal is to obtain master class before i turn 70 (need to get crackin!!)

If i shot as well as i like to shoot I would be master class now, but alas knocking on the door with high expert

I shoot the black gun, Colt HBar with new barrel and new trigger and sights, M1A with new barrel, and i of course compete with the fun rifles at CMP, Garand, 03A3, 03A4, SWEDE 96, Would love to shoot small bore for fun, but my favorite rifle, model 1922 original weighs too much and there is not a class to shoot with that rifle

am 67, married to IMO the most beautiful woman in the world, she happens to be 20 years younger than I, is a native Cherokee, hunts, fishes, shoots, watched her take deer with her Winchester model 70 XTR 243 at 100 yards or so running, she took it down with one shot, whips my ass with a pistol. drives a black corvette convertable and drives truckers wild when she drives around in her bikini in summertime
SHE BUYS ME GUNS!!! LAST YEAR SHE BOUGHT ME A ARMALITE AR10

have competed at Perry for past 6 years and had a ball, was fortunate to win the senior award in 2008 with M1, then two days later (believe it was two, might have been three) ruptured appendix on the 200 yard line of 2nd day high power and had appendix cut out that afternoon at perry, she had to drive our our truck towing a 32 foot rockwood travel trailor with me strapped in taking percoset

Live in rural North Carolina, can hunt deer in woods across the street, belong to the North State Shooting Club and shoot at Butner

Hi everyone, I'm new to the group as well. I look forward to enriching my knowledge on firearms and shooting sports as well as getting to know some folks with similar hobbies. I am 24 and I study medicine at UNTHSC in North Texas. I took up firearms after I had to leave my newly finished 1968 Mustang restoration project back home for school purposes. Currently I am customizing a 1940 German Mauser and seeing how I am new to this I have many question that will come up in the rifle forum.

Thanks all for for sharing your knowledge and expertize!
