still learning to shoot

I am looking to retire sometime this year while there is still some of me leftover for me. I have been shooting most of my life off and on. Of late I have been looking into PBCR. I have an old gun and want it to shoot the way it was intended to be shot. I am sort of a bookend for the first guy that posted on this thread as I am trying to learn to shoot my great grand fathers old gun.

Hi! I live in California. I was on the web searching for info on where to get a California legal Bushmaster Varminter when I came across this site. So, I signed up. Lots of great info here. This is my first post. Thanks to all who post info here. I will be reading it.

Hi, Im Archie a new member in Cedar Rapids, IA. I just applied for my permit to purchase on the 17th of this month and still have not heard anything about it yet. Is this normal and is there something I can do if it is not. I meet all the requirements to get one. Just not sure how long is to long to wait.

I am not familiar with Iowa law, there should be a web access to your state government sight regarding the timing of permit to purchase paperwork. In MN I have yet to hear anyone having to wait more than a week . Was your application dated by the LEO when you turned in in ?
With the holidays it moght have gotten hung up so check with the regulations in your state and contact the law enforcement office where your turned the paperwork in. (they should also have given you a copy)

Hi. I am retired and like cars and guns. I own both cartridge and percussion handguns and a couple of cartridge rifles and shotguns. I have been collecting BP revolvers (mainly replicas) for a couple of years and just recently received my first and only ROA which I intend to use as my main shooter. Now that I have one I see why they are so popular.

New here, look forwards to to all the info this site has to offer! I'm relatively new into firearms (been hunting for a while, just always used my fathers guns) I currently own a little break action 20ga, a Winchester 94 30-30, a .54cal black powder my grandfather gave me, just purchased a gp100 .357 mag 2 days ago. Next I'm looking for a hunting rifle, mainly for elk. I'm located in western Washington

Hello Everyone! I suppose I'm one of the newest members to THR and wanted to say I'm glad to be here and hope I can learn a lot from you folks. I'm 60+ years old, an avid gun collector and enthusiast, and retired just last year from a very long time in law enforcement. I wanted to get into reloading after retirement, so, for the few years before retiring I bought almost everything I might need to get started. Now, I'm ready to go and I'm glad to be here and learn from all of you.

New member from Norway

Hi everybody

I live in Norway and I am a new member on this forum. My main interests are small game hunting and pistol shooting. I think it is interesting to discuss shooting with other people abroad and this seems to be the right place :)

A friend of my husband put me on to you all as a place where intelligent, measured discussion of the Right to Bear Arms can be found. There is so much fear mongering out there. We are fortunate to live in the free Commonwealth of Virginia. As members of the Citizens Defense League we are active in promoting gun rights in our state and keeping informed on issues relating to gun rights.

Hi there! I am new to the site. I stumbled upon it while doing some research on a High Standard .22LR pistol. I Live in Massachusetts now so I have to deal with the fun of Massachusetts gun laws. Looking forward to learning from all of you.

Have been reading threads that people have been posting on this site for a while now, interesting and informative conversations- (With my love for Rifles shotguns & Reloading) I will welcome discussions on subjects that interest me with persons who also hold theese interests. Pleased to be a member of THR.

Hi AC80,
I'm confused. Do you have to get permission to purchase a firearm in Iowa? Here in Ohio, we just have to do a background check in the store. Or were you talking about a CCW permit?
Just curious.

Ummm.... hello :)

I'm pretty new here as a member, but I've read many a Highroad thread in doing research over the years. Figured I ought to join up so I can actively participate to learn more.

I'm a USAF civil engineer currently stationed in Germany. Originally from Southern Illinois, I love to learn new things about firearms and to do outdoor activities. Unfortunately I haven't been able to do as many as I would like to do lately due to the rather oppressive laws in Germany.

I look forward to learning more on this forum!

I am a retired Army vet. I like ARs, XDMs, and Remington shotguns.

I'm concerned about the political side of gun ownership. The right to keep and bear arms for self defense is the most basic human right.

In fact, the primary purpose for my joining this forum is to sound the alarm about what is about to take place in the Senate this week if we all together don't join together and stop it.

Diane Feinstein and the anti-gun machine will introduce the gun ban legislation this week, and it will be rammed through Congress and signed by the President if we do not Stand As One and act today!

I contacted my Senators and Representatives yesterday.

Please contact you Representative today:

Contact your Senators:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

Please, all of you, they are going to ban most of our guns if we don't stand together and act now

Good afternoon. I'm a new member as of today. I saw some post regarding the NRA $300 life membership and thought it's time to give up the annual dues. So anyone who can help show me the way I would appreciate it.
20 some odd years ago I did a lot of plinking which had me reloading 38's, 357's, 44's, and my 30-06 hunting loads, along with molding my own .357 and .44 bullets. With all the housing developments I just can't go out in the backyard anymore so I kind of lost interest but I stiil buy an occasional handgun. Now my wife has taken an interest in shooting so it looks like we may start having a date night to a local indoor range. Fortunately I still have my RCBS Rock Chucker and all that goes with it. I look forward to all the insight the members can give.

Thanks

Remington Genesis Enthusiast

Hello,

A Remington Genesis Google search landed me on some THR archived threads and I liked the community I saw when I followed up. I married into a family of deer hunters many moons ago and family gatherings took on a whole new meaning.

New member to THR but not to guns. In fact, I should apologize since I've been using THR as a resource for years but considered myself a member of too many forums already to create an account.

Well that has changed and I look forward to becoming part of this community.
