another new guy

HI all , I've been lurking here for a couple of months just reading and learning as I do. I've been shooting about 49 years now and own a "few guns" but never enough. I am mostly shooting target and plinking. I do CCW and use a Sig 1911 revolution compact for that purpose. I hope to contribute a little to the conversations now and then, but I'll probably read more than anything.

Hiya. Been reading through the threads for a while. I'm from Oz Downunder currently living in the Philippines. I only have semi-auto psitols at the moment. a g-19, a sig p226 and a norinco np22. :)

Mark here, a newbie to the sight. Looks interesting and fun.
Own more guns than I can shoot, have too many hobbies, but at least they keep me outdoors all year round.
Have 2 sons, both of which are hunters and fishermen, but they also wrestle, play football, and baseball...did I mention I'm outdoors all year round.
My big hobby is bullet casting. I really like the old stuff...45/70, 38/55, etc., but also play with newer models.
Hope I can learn and help.

Hi Guys,

I´m from Germany, in my early 30´s and have always been
fascinated by the outdoors and history.

Since i had my firearms-course during a 1year stay
in the Appalachian Moutains of Kentucky - i´m a big fan
of weapons in general.

Strict laws in europe make it a darn pain to get a hold of permits,
so i gotta stick with blades and blackpowder.

But i´d sure love to go on a range again sometime
preferably in Kentucky :)

I collect blades, as i find them on flea markets from time to time
and so far have picked up: a touareg-spearhead, a Herrero sword,
an argentinian caballero knife, a k98 Bayonet, a Bundeswehr-Fieldknife,
a Glock M78 and many a pocketknife from Herbertz and so on,
not to count the victorinoxes :)

Recently i bought a .45cal Longrifle on the web,
and i am currently playing with oil and pigments
to customize it. Not shot it yet.

in modern Weapons this is what i´ve had the
luck to be handed by friendly Kentuckians and
tried out on the backyard-range:
Beretta 92F, Ruger Redhawk, Browning 22lr, Dan Wesson 357 8",
M870, FoxSavage dbl 16ga, M-14, ....and more recently on a range around here i shot with a Glock17 and a S&W 357.

....longing to spray around with an AK oneday......

enuff bla.
Informative place this is.
Cheers all.
Mp7.

How's it going everyone. I'm about as new as they come. I'm planning on buying my first rifle and I stumbled upon THR while searching for information. Be easy on my as I know very little.
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

I'm a middle school teacher in Rhode Island. I started shooting as a kid -my father was in the service and used to shoot competitively and I'd often go with him. He taught me to shoot at the ole rod n gun club during summers. I didn't shoot again till ROTC and pretty much dropped it all together after college. I recently got the bug and went out and picked up a Beretta 92 FS to get back into it.

Hello. I'm in Colorado Springs, CO. I've been here pushing 9 years. A great place to be. I own a Glock 27 and a S&W 340PD - both used for concealed carry. I also own a Colt AR15-A2.

Might as well introduce myself as I've made a couple posts and really like the friendliness of this community.

My name is Bob and I live in a suburb of Phoenix AZ, but originally come from Western Michigan. I do most of my shooting with the local Pink Pistols chapter because I find them to be a very relaxed and pleasant group to shoot with. My favorite gun is my Browning Hi Power, but after recently feeling a well tuned S&W, my eyes have been opened to wheel guns and their potential. Having a girlfriend who enjoys the wheelies doesn't hurt either :)

New Guy Intro

I hope this is the right place to do this. I just wanted to give a quick intro and say hello to everyone. I'm the new gunsmith at FBMG in Draper, UT. I found out about this forum from my boss that is a moderator here.
I went through the Colorado School of trades gunsmithing program. They have a great program there. After school I was hired by the Dept. of Energy and after their courses became an Advanced Armorer for them. I miss working there but think FBMG will be an even better work place.
Enough about me. It's good to be here and I look forward to reading your posts and sharing my interests.

Welcome! Although I am quite new myself I think you'll enjoy this forum. I am familiar with FBMG, my parents moved to Sandy at the beginning of last summer and although I've only been out there twice FBMG will become a routine stop when I visit.

I'm Definately New Here.

Well, I guess my first post started a ruckus so I suppose that I should introduce myself.

I'm retired Military with 25 years service to my country, three combat tours, Viet Nam, Granada and Desert Storm and retired as a Para Rescue (PJ),which I spent most of my career at. Some may know what this is all about, still other will not have a clue, nor do I expect you to. For those of you the do "BOOYA." I have been a patriot all of my adult life and have enjoyed serving my country. I believe in our freedoms which were given to us by God and our fore fathers and will defend them with my life if need be. I'm a stanch supporter of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I excercise my 2nd Amendment right daily and know it's purpose within the Constitution, do you? If you want to know more than ask. I'm a trained gunsmith and have been for over 25 years so I know a little about firearms.

Cheers

Jeff

Good evening-Just saying Hi! after lurking awhile in researching my next purchase-an American made handgun in a 9mm or .40 S&W caliber.

Hello folks! Been enjoying the forums quite a bit. Finally remembered to introduce myself.

I'm interested in plinking, target shooting and varmit hunting. Mostly just shoot the woodchucks in the area but coyote are becoming an issue these days.

Haven't been out in the fields for a few years now with health issues but I'm back to the point I plan to get out this year. Just need to catch up with the local farmers to see who needs some groundhogs shot.

Been through a few different guns over the years. Mostly smaller calibres though. I try to keep it light since the towns are spreading out a bit these days. Getting tough to find an area where you can get decent ranges to shoot in. So I'm looking to try out the .17 HMR rounds and see how that goes. Sounds perfect for my preferred areas and style of hunting.

Last time out was 1999! My brother and I went out a few times with a pair of 22-250s he owns. He had them tuned up well and reloaded his own ammo to boot. Odd how identical rifles like different loads. But heck, feed em what they like!

Anyway.. Great site here with plenty of useful info to keep me busy a while.

I'm not a big poster but if I can help or have useful info I'll toss it out there.

HI Everybody!

I have used this forum for over a year and for some reason never joined. I grew up loving and respecting guns, as did my brother and sisters. I love to go hunting and fishing. Now that I am older I plan to hunt more diverse and bigger game. I almost done saving for a S/A 1911A1 Mil Spec in stainless steel, one of the best guns in history. Although my favorite round is definately the .357 Magnum, of which I am gravitating to the S&W 686, or a snubby for home defense. Although I do know as a college graduation present my dad is getting me a Cimarron Pistolero, 4 3/4" in .357 Magnum, super cool. I recently became an NRA Life Member and I try to stay active with the NRA-ILA. All in all I love guns, freedom, the NRA, and the USA.

Hi All - I am 43 year old medical student who enjoys collecting all types of firearms, including C&R, BP, as well as, airguns. I also enjoy handgun hunting (feral hogs are a favorite). It is always refreshing to find a place where like minds come together especially considering the overwhelming anti-gun/gun paranoia that permeates our culture. I encourage us all to educate and inform those around us (including young people) about the enjoyment and history of collecting and using firearms, instead of pitching it as solely a tool of hunting and defense. By winning hearts and minds through true enjoyment of firearm ownership, we can truly change attitudes. Remember the days when Grandpa and his friends would sit on the porch cleaning their guns and talking about calibers and hunting and such. Good times!!!
