Hey folks. New guy here coming to you from Tennessee. I have been reading the posts in General, Tactics, Shotguns and Auto Handguns and like the info and exhange of good stuff. I dig pistols and shotguns....not much of a rifle guy. Pretty much shoot every weekend and sometimes during the week. We have a great 206 acre range so close to my house I can hear the guns on quiet mornings. Anyway, good to be here. Cheers.

I am involved with hand guns. I am partial to 45 cal. I reload with a square deal b. I shoot on a regular basis. It's cheaper than owning and operating boats. I like Kimbers, Glocks, and S&W revolvers. Thats about it. My wife wnjoys shooting also and is quite good with the 45's

I’m obviously new here, myself. I must say that this is a fantastic site. I’ve been contemplating a S&W 642 for over a month now. I’ve always been a semi-auto guy, but after I purchased my first revolver ever (a Model 686) five months ago, I’m hooked on the wheel gun! I’ve spent the better part of three hours looping through past threads here, looking for info that might tilt me one way or the other, regarding the 642. I’m going to go for it, with minor reservations, based on what I’ve read here at THR. But that’s possibly another discussion at a more appropriate time.

In any event, I’ve been a shooting enthusiast for several years now, arriving somewhat late in life to the game, so to speak. I obtained my Ohio CCW this past spring under the instruction of a veteran of our armed forces and a local police department. I have followed my CCW training up with several instinctive shooting courses taught by the same instructor, including close-quarters combat technique. I’ve come to acquire a healthy respect (and enthusiasm) for firearms of all types. I regularly hit the range at least twice a week, with one of the sessions reserved solely for practice with my current concealed carry weapon of choice. Finally, I have become an avid and vocal member of the NRA, having purchased my lifetime membership last year. Like most of us, I am fearful of what the new political climate in this country holds regarding our sacred constitutional right to keep and bear arms. I am a firm believer that the best (and possibly only) way to effectively combat the current anti-Second Amendment mood swing is by fully supporting Wayne, Nancy and the other dedicated folks at the NRA.

Sorry to be so long-winded! I look forward to keeping a low profile here, and soaking up the knowledge and wisdom as I go along. Sure am glad I found this place!

Howdy all, My name is Ed and I've been a Ranger for nearly 30 years and no not an Army Ranger . The other one in the brush. I used the handle 10man as that was a nickname some friends started calling me at a glock shoot and it sort of stuck. As a former military brat I've always been around fire arms and now like all forms of gun craft anything from handgun comp. to poppin ground squirrels with my Ruger 22 mag. and yes I know that the 17HMR is a flatter shooter. It's an honor to be among patriots and warrior's at heart.

Glad to join the forum. I have a friend here who has said some nice things about this place so I figured I would give it a look. Hiya Depchief! about time you got here!!! :neener:

Well, let me think back to where my love for guns, shooting and hunting began..... My dad wanted a boy, well... he got a girl instead, so naturally he had me shooting as soon at 6, hunting at 11 (after I got throu my hunter education class) and lets face it, I had a girly period from about 14-18, but started back up at about 19. So, Im 22 now and couldn't enjoy hunting, shooting, guns, and ammo loading more.

My hubby is an avid hunter, actually I've never seen someone hunt so much! Competition PPC shooting started out as a father-daughter thing but quickly turned to a father-daughter-son in law-husband thing. And its great!!.

I can't wait till we can teach our kids the respect and responsibility of hunting and shooting, with the help of ol' dad. I think between the hubby and I, we have about 34-35 shotguns/rifles and only about 5 handguns, soon to add to the collection.

New member here!

Hello, I'm 58 and love firearms, hunting, shooting, fishing, Golf, riding Harleys, sleeping. I'm a retired Commercial appraiser and don't want to talk shop!

I used to teach firearms competition shooting at the U. S. Air Force Academy. I spent 5 years there (10 years totaol) and love the Air Force and all it stands for including all other branches of the service. I am a Viet Nam Vet (Da Nang) 1970-1971.

I now live full time on Lewistown Montana and winters in Hemet Ca. I love the Kimber rifles, SA pistols, Browning Auto's, Sako's, Rugers and others.

I love hunting, fly fishing, bike riding (mainly Harleys) and flying (used to be a flight instructor at the USAFA Aero Club). My wife and I now tour by RV (36 ft Rexhall Rexair) motorhome.

Thank you for the kind welcome rnchick, as you well know its takes me awhile to come around, but I eventually get it right!!;)

I'm thinking Depchief & RNChick may know each other. Think? ;)

Depchief, my father was chief of his volunteer town fire department for many years. He has a fire station named after him.

(I'm a fire man too, of sorts, only I have a different relationship to it. Strictly legal, mind you, but if I talk about it here, the mods will get all upset, so I won't. :D )

Welcome in.

This is becoming a pretty exciting thread. Good idea, Justin.

Welcome yall!

Don't forget: SEARCH is your friend, and new members buy the first rounds (to revive an old joke ... :uhoh: )

Nem,
Thank you for the kind welcome, and yes, Rnchick was the one that lured me into this forum.
You must be very proud of your fathers accomplishments, there is no greater honor in the fire service than to have a station named after you. I was a career firefighter for many years and now work for my counties Emergency Medical Service. I can appreciate the amount of time and commitment it takes to serve as a volunteer, I have been a volunteer now for 10 years.

Yep, U guessed it, NEW GUY!!!

Hello folks,

Been lurking around here for the past few weeks. Love the forums as its not just about the physical gun but the social responsibilities that go with owning them. I especially love the political section. Its a necessary evil but hey, thats me.

A little about myself, the name is J.J. and I'm presently in the US Navy stationed in Hawaii at the moment. Originally from Eastern North Carolina and as far as being the outdoorsy type, I miss that past time terribly. Hawaii is two steps behind communist USSR and nearly on par with totalitarian California. But I digress.
I'm an Electronics Tech by trade and see it as both a duty and an honor to serve my country and those of you legally entitled to call yourselves American Citizens.

My purpose for participating here, same as all of you I suppose... To learn something and interject my opinions when warranted. I've read some great and entertaining and yes, informative threads these past few weeks and you people even directed me to my first AR purchase and could'nt have done a better job and I thank all immensely.

I look forward to future conversations with you all and until then, keep your powder dry and your eye along the skyline.

Regards,

J.J.

New to the list

Hey Gang,

I'm new here but I love what I've seen so far. I have a 586 and a 22 remington long arm. I am just getting back into shooting, as a matter of fact, I'm going to the range this morning. Take care,

Merry Christmas.

I am pretty new here but I have made a few previouse post. I hail from Southern FL. I have been shooting all of my life, but mostly .22 and handguns. While I have shot many long arms in my time I am just now starting to get into the dicipline required to be proficent with a high powered rifle. I feel it is my duty as an american citizen to keep and bear arms as much as time and finances allow. There is just something almost spiritual about shooting. I am pretty much a traditionalist when it comes to my firearms; .30 cal, .357 Mag, 12 ga. While I do own and respect newer guns the classics are where it is at for me.

I have my 03 FFL and collect all kinds of firearms.
Recently I have been on a Mauser kick, but I see myself returning to finish my AR varmint project that I have been putting off....using my $ on K-31's, mausers, M-1 Garand, Mosin Nagants, etc.
I have my CHL in New York State, which is a small miracle in and of itself.
I was born, raised, educated in Missouri, and moved to upstate NY to be with my wife of nearly 4 years. I have a 9 month old daugther named Audrey, and she is truly my angel on earth.
I am an avid outdoorsman, My wife and I recently went camping with our daughter in southern Maine with our then 3 month old daughter! That was fun and I cannot wait to take her backpacking this spring.

Hello to all. I am a gun nut in Alabama. My favorite military or sporting firearm is the bolt action rifle. My all time favorite bolt action is the king: the GEW98!

Welcome new folks!

There's a wealth of information in THR. Some of you may spend all your time searching the previous posts (it's unlikely that any queston you have hasn't been discussed in detail sometime since the place opened) while other's may cruise the current material. Regardless of what your interest you'll find reasonable knowledgable people sharing information in a civil and mature manner.

...most of the time. :uhoh:

And when we don't, our great mods (sincerely) help restore civility and maturity to the fray.
