My name's Mike. I'm from Portland Oregon, and I've just recently discovered this little gem of a forum. I'm 22, and have been around firearms as long as I can remember. I got my first rifle when I was 14, and just yesterday bought my first pistol. Look forward to chatting with you all:D

howdy!

My name is John, I live in Austin, Texas.

I'm fairly new to gun ownership, and have a couple of rifles, and a handgun on order that should be here in a couple of days.

The Rifles are Russian Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 and M44. My main goal with these is to work on my marksmanship and do a little hunting a little later on. I have plans for a wilderness backpacking trip in Gates Of The Arctic National Park and the Noatak River Wilderness Preserve, and am tentatively going to be carrying the M44 for emergency bear defense. This is actually what piqued my interest in guns in the first place, and the reason I bought the rifles. Since I purchased the rifles, I've developed an great interest in old military firearms. The history of the guns fascinates me, and the fact that they're readily available and affordable helps too.

My handgun is a Hungarian FEG PA63 - again, military surplus :) . I have heard varying accounts about this gun, most namely issues with trigger pull and recoil, as well as the grips. I'm going to give my gun a go and see how I like it. It looks like all of these problems are addressable with aftermarket parts, such as the new spring kits and grips on Makarov.com, as has been suggested in the forums here.

I think what attracts me to shooting is the amount of concentration and focus required. I enjoy it because it's a challenge in control of the body and mind, and seeing that in action when my shooting improves is what makes it fun for me.

Computerguysd

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but figure it's time to introduce myself.

I'm William, a "computer janitor" in South Dakota. I live on an acreage so in the warmer months can shoot at home, in the winter there's a nice indoor range at Gary's Gunshop in Sioux Falls where I have a range pass. Just got in a tactical shooting league last week, a really fun (and humbling) sport.

My interest in guns is primarily self defense and target shooting, although I do have to shoot the occassional varmit around my property. I've deer hunted but I'm at the point now that if they don't just stand in the back of the truck to get shot, I'll just buy jerky.

Right now, my primary carry pieces are my S&W 649 or my Sig P232. For the tactical shooting I'm using my Sig P239 9mm. :neener:

My name is Ruth, I'm from Utah and I recently took up an interest in guns. It has become my hobby. I own a .380, a 9 mm, and a .357. I love them all equally.

Hello all, I have been lurking here off and on for close to a year. Just recently got into guns after getting my CCH. I did not grow up around guns, but my husband got his concealed carry and talked to me about it. When we moved to the big city, I knew I wanted to get mine so I could protect myself, particularly since I am female.
So that is how it started. I didn't want to carry unless I felt 100% comfortable handling/shooting/cleaning my gun and knew the laws, so I spent a decent amount of time at the range with my husband, drawing and dry-firing at home, etc. My interest just kind of grew, I guess it was kind of contagious as my husband is so passionate about the second amendment. He is also a very good teacher, very patient, which helped immensely.
I think for our anniversary I want another gun to play with at the range :) (my S&W 642 is great for carrying, but doesn't make the most fun range gun).

Hello everyone,

My name is Garrett and I am from Dublin Ireland. I have been lurking here for a spell and finally decided to commit.
I shoot quite alot of rifle and shotgun (Qualified and practising instructor), yet the main reason I am here is to gain a little education from you folks about handgun shooting.
Until recently pistols and revolvers of all classes were severely restricted in this country (partly because of the 'troubles' in Northern Ireland). Now, thankfully that restriction has been lifted slightly and I have bought myself a Para P16 .40 Hi-Cap for ISPC shooting.
Looking forward to getting to know you guys over the next while,

Slainte,

Chopperdog.

Hi guys. My name is Jeff and I live in Ohio. I have been an avid gun owner for years. My home was recently robbed and I lost my prized gun collection. Some which can not be replaced, as they were family airlumes. I am in the process of rebuilding my collection (yes it's painful). I found this sight searching for guns forsale in my state.

I look forward to conversing with you.

My name is Jared and I reside in East Texas. I am .mil -lifer and my interests are primarily professional and secondary as a hobby. Most of my firearms are military style short and long guns or for hunting. The wife is also a fan of older hardware and enjoys a trip to the range as much as anyone.

Hi Folks & welcome to THR !

Since this new member sticky got going I don't keep up with saying hello to new members as well as I should . I sorta liked it better when each had it's own thread to get a rolling start on getting more personaly acquainted.

Happy to have you all here and I appreciate the forum being here for us. :D

GREETINGS YALL!

Well i am very new to this sight (like just tonight) part of the reason that i joined was to get some help with my question. the other is i really like this sight from what i have seen, it looks like a place where a redneck can be a redneck. i just got my first gun and i love the he-- out of it.

Texan

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I've lurked off and on for a while. I look forward to discussing with everyone.

Hey everyone, Just joined. I've owned several guns in the past and had to sell them because of divorce in 80 but I have a good start on a newer collection. I'm into 1911's, have several Rugers, my favorite is a NMSBH hunter 44mag scoped. Desert Eagle 50 cal which is amazingly accurate and a SA 1911 Loaded Operator. My next gun I think will be an Alaskan or a Ruger 480 2 1/2".

New to forum

New to the forum. My name is John I live in MI. I like collect WWII rifles and Military items. Thought this would be interesting.

Just happy to be alive today

My name is Jay in Austin, Texas. I've been lurking since mid '06.

I did some plinking as a kid and then 7 years in the army. Didn't own anything for a few years after, living too transient a lifestyle. Finally settled here and got the bug, so I went out and blindly bought the worst gun on the planet (Lorcin .380) in '98 or so, just for home use.

Soon after I found a sweet old Remington Sportsman pump 12 gauge with a Poly Choke (older, max 2 3/4" rounds).

Then I walked into a pawn shop one day and said, "What is that?" Took some notes and came home to research. That became my first milsurp, a '52 polish Mosin M44, all matching, but slightly bubba'd. Drilled and tapped with a weaver rail and the bolt mod. It's a tack driver, if the tacks are BIG enough.

Ran into a guy at work who is a CHL instructor. Fired many of his toys and took a liking to his KelTec P11, so I got one.

Wife is just this side of anti, so I chilled for awhile, but recently decided I needed a NATO caliber for SHTF value. Was trolling for a Mini-14, but ended up with another Mosin, a 91/30. Then, someone emailed about this Mini deal, Folding Butler Creek stainless. I haven't even fired those two yet.

Finally broke down last week and picked up an old AmSec 6030, so the missus is much happier and, frankly, so am I.

The reason I'm happy to be alive is because some 90 year old blind deaf fellow made a left turn in front of my bike today and I became one with his Jeep quarter panel. I feel like a pinata, but all my parts are still attached.

I've learned alot in this forum and I look forward to flapping gums with some of you.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and new to handgun ownership. I'm 42 and 3 years ago retired from the US Navy as a Senior Chief.

I've always loved shooting, but never had a lot of opportunity. I own an old Winchester Rifle Model 77 .22LR that my grandfather gave me many years ago and I just bought my first handgun, a Ruger P345 .45 ACP and I love it.

I bought it used with only about 300 rounds through her and it came with with 5 Ruger mags for $350 and a HOGUE rubber grip sleeve on it. That makes a nice addition to the gun and it feels very comfortable in my hand. First time out in many years and I shot 100 rounds, nice groups, no problems whatsoever and no fatigue. Tomorrow I'll fire about 200 rounds. That said, I love the gun. I'm in VA and will be OC'ing here shortly as soon as I get a nice reliable holster.

Monday, I have a set of 19, 20 and 21 lb Wolff hammer springs coming to lighten up the pull on DA. From what I hear, it makes a WORLD of difference.

I enjoy the info I've found here and I'm also BobCav on the OpenCarry forum (http://opencarry.mywowbb.com/).

Hi all

I am a long time lurker at this forum and its predecessor the firing line. I guess that makes me planklurker of the forum as well.:) I like rifles and pistols, but don't care much for shotguns. They have their uses, like bagging pheasants, but aren't interesting to me. My tastes run towards milsurps and the the EBRs. I'm interested in getting started in reloading too; when my taxes come in I'm getting a basic reloading setup.

Howdy

My name's Tom, a.k.a. the FSUPipeliner, as in Former Soviet Union. I just stumbled on to this site this morning, while looking for shooting ranges in the Houston, Texas area. I've been an NRA Life Member for over 30 years. While I lived in Chicago, about 25 years ago, I shot competitive bullseye pistol.

My son bought me a discreet carry (notice the political correctness) training course for Christmas. I will probably carry a PPK in .380 acp. For around the house, I have a 1911A1.

I'm looking forward to the discussions.

Does anyone know where there's a decent range in Houston?

Tom

Hey all, I'm Zach. I'll be 22 in a few months, and I've been shooting since I was around 5. My first gift was a .22 LR Chipmunk bolt-action single shot that my dad bought for me the day I was born, so I've pretty much been surrounded by firearms my entire life. I really enjoy everything about guns... shooting, repair, customizing, reloading, etc., however I think my favorite aspect is the history of firearms. I'm very much into milsurp and "classic" firearms.

My current collection would be as follows:

Beretta Golden Snipe 12ga O/U
Benelli Nova 12ga
Browning BPS 12ga
NEF .410 break-action
Chipmunk .22LR bolt
Norinco JW-15 .22 bolt
Mauser DSM34 .22 single-shot bolt
Savage 111 .25-06
Winchester 94 .30-30 1966 Centennial
Winchester 95 .405 Winchester
Marlin 1894FG .41 Mag
Remington 673 Guide Gun .350 Rem. Mag.
Stevens Favorite .22
NEF Handi-Rifle .223 Rem
SKS (Soviet)
Browning Buckmark .22
(2)Colt Official Police .38 Spl (Pre- and post-war)
Smith & Wesson M&P-40 .40 S&W
Glock G17 9mm
Glock G20C 10mm
Taurus PT-1911 .45 ACP
Makarov 9x18mm (E. German)
Menz P&B Mod.III .32 ACP

I'm constantly accused of having too many guns... and yet still I want more...

Glad to be here! :)
