newbie

Just registered today, 12-23-07, I've seen a lot of interesting posts in just one hour! Residing in the great pro gun state of Arizona after leaving my home state of the socialist republic of New Jersey!

Speedy here. 50 year old D.A.V. from Louisiana living in Virginia for now. Very active member of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Former FFL (std, not C&R) and lover of the odd (Largo 9x23, 9mm WinMag etc). Former Blues/Funk/Classic rock drummer.

A friend in the VCDL sent me here and I'm glad they did.

Howdy y'all!

hello all... after going through different forums for info and feedback... this is by far the best place for a newbie... i'm not a new shooter... but i am a new owner... just got my first gun... rem 700 adl .30-06... planning to rapidly increase my arsenal... thanks for all the info

Like Boris Barowski (see page 63), I also live in Belgium. You already read that the conditions for target shooters isn't as ideal as is should be, so this part can be skipped right away.

In 2006, gun laws changed (see www.gunfacts.be) dramatically after a racist killing in Antwerp, our second largest city. As a result, many people were forced or persuaded to hand in their firearms, with no compensation (= 0 €). (in many cases lawfully posessed firearms under the old legislation)

Like a father who loves his children, it hurts me very much to see all this happening. The only I could do was adapt myself to the new legislation and buy as quick as possible several weapons (with a waiting period of several months before I got the permits) that were too good to be destroyed. I hope I can enjoy shooting for as long as possible.

Surviving the future by studying current wisdom...

Hello,

I'm an American citizen who isn't a doom & gloom worshiper as much as a student of history. After studying good bit of history, I now realize the very real possibilities that we may be facing (Americans & other nationalities, alike) in the very near future. As a result I have been researching practical methods, materials, and tools with which to best prepare for those possible eventualities.

It was in my search that I came across the writings/posts of FerFal, a member of this forum. I joined this forum after having found out that he was banned [for religious reasons - as well as reasons relating to racism on the part of the forum moderators] over at Frugal Squirrel.

If I've learned one thing, it's the fact that if we are all going to survive the future, it's going to involve sticking together & helping each other out. NOT ostricizing each other based on racial or religious bias. :fire:

For what it's worth, I only joined Frugal Squirrel a few days ago thinking that FerFal was still a member & moderator there, hoping to learn from his true-to-life experiences in Argentina, post 2001. As it is, I have officially quit them &, in so doing, reminded them that it was the Catholic Church (the very people they said were 'going to hell', if I understand correctly) who carried the torch of Christianity through the Dark Ages and beyond...

Either way, I'm now a member of this forum & am looking forward to gleaning useful information & contributing as much as I can.

Sincerely,

-USD

Hi, my name is Ron Smith from Mississippi. I was just given the above gun that belonged to my father. It has a serial no. 16367, and the number 41 on it. It was in a holster that also had a holder for an extra clip but there is no extra clip with it. I would like to know anything that I can about this gun as it has been sitting up for a lot of years, I do not wish to sell it but would like to know its worth. All I found on the internet was that they were manufactured in 1926-1949 in CZ.

Greetings!

My name is Scott. I'm a former Army combat engineer. After travelling for Uncle Sam for years, I landed here in Colorado and truly enjoy it.

I was fascinated by all weapon-y things as a kid. Exposure to side arms, rifles, and big military only stuff in the Army satisfied my curiosity for years.

I grew nostalgic for my trusty rattling 1911 a few years ago, so finally started my gun collection. Nothing fancy, a basic MilSpec 1911, followed by a XD45. Both are fine tools and fun to shoot.

I'd like to get into reloading sometime in the future and have been learning quite a bit from the forums.

Merry Christmas
I am new to the forum, I am from NH and am a fairly new gun owner. I work in retail and have been a volunteer firefighter for 12 years. I have spent the better part of my adult life farting around in college, but as of yet have only attained a AS, but am now less than 4 courses away from my BS YEEHA

Hello folks.

New to site, recently stated to to shot again. Have had the things locked up for years, young kids and new job, little time for myself.

That's over, joined the gun club again, was a member in the 90s.

Currently have a taurus 357 mod. 66. S&W 22. semi, antique winnchester 1906 22 short and some old shotguns that don't get played with.

Most of the time is spent at the plinking range for now.

Howdy Folks,

I joined last week. I was (and am)amazed at the info I found here. My first love is for my LORD. Then family and the USA (both North and South).

I grew up shooting shotguns (hunting deer with dogs). It wasn't until that was outlawed that I started shooting rifles. Now I travel a lot through the states (manage projects) and have my CHL and a few handguns. Also bowhunt and blackpowder.

1 compound bow
1 black powder
4 shotguns
5 rifles
3 pistols

And yes I am a REDNECK (even though I do had a doctorate). My wife thinks I have enough stuff that goes bang. I think I have a good start.

Greetings! from Kansas City area (Olathe)

Hello, my name is Lou. I am a USAF veteran. I have a Sako P94S on the way from another forum. I own three Beretta pistols and soon this Sako rifle. Looking to have a Beretta shot gun in the near future to help round out my collection. I look forward to all of your input and information, advice. Lou

Greetings from Washington State!

I've been lurking for a while, and have seriously enjoyed the forum. I've learned a ton here!

I have a small selection of amrs: 10/22 with target barrel, M70AB2, and the gf's Taurus .357 (she's a keeper.) In the relatively near future, I think I'll round it out with a MKII Target and maybe a Ruger P95. And of course, I'm still trying to buy back the Yugo SKS I sold to a friend (seriously, that thing was a shooter.)

I'm a vegetarian (flame me, but dont' flame-broil me. I wouldnt' eat it), I enjoy model rocketry, yo-yos, and I've been known to vote Libertarian in the past (haven't decided this go-round.)

Keep it up. Y'all are doing good things for the cause. And I'm a better shooter for it!

Hi THR, I'm from, you guessed it, Vermont. I'm relatively new to guns and gun politics but I am loving all the great discussions I have seen here and at TFL. You may come to know me as that Liberal messing up all your threads with my liberal politics. But I'm with you on RKBA.

Welcome all you page 64ites. There's room around the campfire for all of you.
Newbies supply the beer to go with the venison steaks. (Or some mushroom steaks for you, slogfilet. :p)

Sheshooter, look up www.corneredcat.com. Pax, one of our original members has a terrific website for ladies interested in firearms.

This forum is great. I found it while looking for some info on budget 1911s and its really helped me in making up my mind. Alot of very smart people here and they have all been very friendly.

Hey all,

New here to THR. I was looking around for a place with good information on reloading and think I've found it!

I live in Wisconsin and am an avid hunter. Bowhunting for deer is a personal favorite, but I like shooting sports of any kind.

I have centerfire guns in .308 Win, .300 Win Mag, and .38/.357 Mag. I will be reloading for 30-06, .280 Rem, .270 Win, .41 Rem Mag, and potentially .35 Whelen and .204 Ruger as well.

Look forward to hanging out with you guys. I'm a member of NAHC and DU. Will soon be adding NRA to that list...

-Steve

Hi! New to THR but not to firearms. Had my CC permit for over 30 years. Belong to several forums and regularly contribute...look forward to doing the same here. I love milsurps and own some but not enough.

Hey ALL!!!
Just wanted to say thanx... been here a week... posted two noobie questions, and was immediately provided with helpful and fun advice. Thanx for being a great crew. As for introductions:

I have recently moved back to Southern CA, from Northern CA. I finished my BA at UCSC and decided it was time to move home. I subsequently convinced my girlfriend that it would be fun to take her out to the local shooting range to shoot my great grand-father's Marlin 100. Not only did she really enjoy plinking that .22 ... ... But she was amazingly adept at it. Hence, her interest grew, rapidly. Since then my stepfather has begun joining us on our Monday afternoon excursions. If we can talk my mom into going, it can be a family affair. As for right now, our interests in firearms lies in casual plinking, and maybe some serious target shooting down the line. The girl absolutely loves blowing up apples, and is pretty accurate at fifty yards, with open sights. I will absolutely be seeing you guys in the legal forums, as my knowledge of CA gun laws is scant. Likewise I'll be seein you in Rifle Country, and look forward to it.

Special Thanx to the Kind folks out at Burrow Canyon Shooting Park...
If anyone needs to find me on a Monday afternoon, you know where I'll be.

Hi, I am 56 years old and have been shooting for fourty years and hand loading for 35 years, I live in B.C . Canada In the south east corner, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

Hey everybody! GlockTalk is out of beer so I thought I'd wander over here and see what THR has in the fridge.

I've been interested in firearms since I was a teenager. I served 3 yrs in the Army (88-91) and became keenly interested in the Second Ammendment. Currently I live in the Poulsbo area of Washington State. I've spent the last year or so doing casual research on pistols, rifles, and shotguns mostly for enjoyment but also making mental notes of what I've read. The day is coming when I will take my 5-gallon jar of loose change and trade it in for my very first bullet-launcher (likely a .45 Glock 30). I've got the first $50, I just need $500 more. :D

I use the same name on GT if that matters to anyone. Meantime, I'll be looking around to see what golden nuggets of info y'all have buried around here.
