New member as well

Just wanted to introduce myself and let you know that I'm a 25 year old from Ohio with a loving wife and dog. I am a new CHL holder and am fascinated with military weaponry dating back as far as the War Between the States.

On a personal note, I am college educated but managed to avoid the typical brainwashed state of most college students. I'm not one to pull any punches or hold my tongue often so if I have something to add I'll definitely say it.

I have been lurking here for a while now (probably 2 - 3 months) and must say that I've learned a lot especially that I have a lot to still learn.

Greetings from the frozen lands of north central New Mexico along the border with Colorado where it has been double digit below zero every morning for six weeks. Burrrr. I have to lead callistetics in the AM to keep my cows from freezing to the ground!

Since you asked, me preference is for revolvers although I shoot autoloaders and lever rifles although I hunt with a BAR and a bolt action. Old historical shooters are my preference although I keep a Mini-14 with a 30 round clip, a pouch with two Ruger 20 round clips, a 4X Weaver scope and a flash suppressor by the front door.

I hunt mule deer and elk. The bears, cats and birds I leave for others. I also leave my brother El Coyote, The Trickster, alone. I return he leaves my livestock alone. That will change if he ever changes. Last summer, I had a coyote bitch working for me. She kept a little of pups in a den above a pasture that has had a varmit problem. She came down every morning and evening to hunt them. I started putting out a little dog food and watere for her. It is tough being a predator and if starving they ain't too good at it.

Anyway, here is a list of what I shoot.

just me

I have been lurking around this place for a while, especially the classifieds. Just an Alabama country boy that likes his long guns, both rifles and shotguns. I don't care much to discuss gun rights, because as long as I can buy 'em and shoot 'em, I don't need too many more rights. I keep my blood pressure from getting too low with moderate political and religious debates with "friends." So.... I am here to maybe learn about which one's work and which one's don't.

Hi, My name is Dave I am unfortunately from NJ. I am turning in my application for a Firearms Purchaser ID card. I am mostly just interested in rifles. I am in the Army Reserve. Been Active or Reserve since 1999. My only experience other than BB guns growing up is the M-16, M-4, M-249, M-240.

Greetings. I'm Michael from the People's Socialist Republik of Illinois - fortunate to live well south of Chicago, just not fortunate enough to be south of the Illinois border.

I'm typically found at the range with some combination of 9mm, .40S&W, or .45ACP handguns, a Yugo AK and/or a .308 Savage, and one of my growing number of .22s.

Currently in the market for an AR. :D

Hey guys, I am new to guns and curently have 4, I mostly like millitary guns
but dont have the $ they require.

Hi all,

I'm a medical student, and currently, as my name suggests, own and love my HK G3 (technically 91, due to that whole semi-auto only business, but anyway...) 7.62x51 rifle. I am really into military hardware, in part because of history, and also because they're just a lot of fun! I am not a huge pistol/shotgun guy, but I like rifles.

I'm also interested in starting to reload at some point! :)

Hello everyone,

I've been primarily lurking on this board for some time, although I've posted a few times. I live in Dallas/Fort Worth with my wife and young son. I grew up shooting and hunting, and it's a pleasure to be involved with such a large group of folks who share a lot of the same interests. In fact, I've been receiving some good info on gun safes on this site over the last few days.

My collection includes rifles, a couple of shotguns, and several pistols. I anticipate that the collection will grow over time. There's not anything I'm particularly drawn to except a good deal on a used forearm. It's nice to meet all of you (in a fashion), and I look forward to visiting as much as time permits. Take care.

Russell

Hello, my name is Kris. I live in Lake Charles, LA. I grew up around guns and hunting. I purchased my first handgun a couple years ago and I plan on more. Didn't really think there was a place for poeple to talk about guns till recently. I found this forum and thought it would be a good place to learn more. I'm married with 3 children and mainly carry for their defence"you never know" right? Anyway I have a Hi point .45acp and a Rossi .357 mag.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'm glad to finally be an official member of a community that has taught me quite a bit over the years. My thanks to Oleg and the Mods for keeping THR on The High Road.

I'm an architect by trade but have been shooting since I was a kid. My father has been in the military and local/state/federal law enforcement for 35 years so I got started on firearms early in life. I'm currently the proud owner and slowly improving shooter of a HK 45C, V1.

great site. just joined today and look forward to all the information.

my driving range is my shooting range.
try hitting them with a 9 iron or a 9mm loads of fun
its hard on the turf though

New Member in Georgia!

Hello all,

I have enjoyed reading the threads I just happened to run across while doing some research and could not leave this site ...so I joined! I love target shooting, or just plain ole let me shoot something. (Non-living and legal of course.) I could sit and stand on an old country porch on a big old piece of property and just shoot all day long.

I am currently low on handguns or rifles as I have sold most of my lot to friends who had none but I am expecting to buy a HK USP tactical .45 later this year and add suppressor and laser to it on a tactical thigh holster.

My primary weapon until then is actually my back-up weapon and that is a Kahr P9 which I do love. I have an old Mossberg pump 12 gauge shotgun for home defense, a .25 semi-auto as a secondary back-up on an ankle holster.

Currently my only rifle is a Romanian SAR 7.62X39 AK variant which I am also endeared to. A long range "reach out and touch someone" rifle is on the docket but I am still researching that. I am an old military guy so the M1 Garand is currently on the top of that list...

That is about it!

Hi Everyone, I signed up a couple of days ago and look foward to being a part of something good. I've always had a rifle and a shotgun but just in the last year and a half got interested in handguns. I have friends who are gunsmiths, police officers and on the sherrif's dept. and one who retired from armor car driver. They all got me to where I am today, and I could never thank them enough for their time and effort. I now own a H&R .22-9 round target pistol ,a Taurus .357-5 round snubby, a Taurus .357- 7 round Tracker , a Beretta .40 model 96 ( my baby) and a S&W mod. 29 .44 mag. I am going to add a 9mm and a .45 to my auto collection. I practice at least 2 times a week and when the weather isn't too bad I can shoot everyday right out in backyard. Bless you all for who you are and thank-you for what you got going here. Shoot safe ...Mark

New guy

Been lurking around a while, now a member. I'm from West Texas (well Sooner state originally). Man there is A LOT of info on these pages. I've been into older guns, mostly rifles lately. Later!

Hello, I am a big game hunter with an affinity for ARs, Garands and Model 70s. I really like how civil your site is.

I have been reading post from various sites whenever I would do google searches about guns. Over the past several months I have found that THR has had intelligent and insightful discussions so I thought I would join the crew. I retire this year from the Army so thought I would so some hunting. Own a Remington 700 BDL Custom in 7mm Rem Mag and a Mossberg 500 12 Ga. Deer Combo. Killed a 5 x 5 bull elk this fall (on my birthday) with the Mossberg!

New Member From Oregon

Hi there, I just signed up today! Greetings from the Pacific Northwest. I've been reading these forums forever but couldn't stand being left out of the conversation anymore. I'm 27, born and raised in Oregon, also raised on responsible firearm practices and collecting (thanks, Dad). I own many different rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers, and I'm headed out after work today to trade in a Browning Buckmark .22 pistol on a shiny new S&W 642! After reading the "642 Club" forums, I couldn't resist anymore. Anyway, it's good to be here and I hope I get to talk to a lot of you. ;)

New member from occupied Cook County. My heart, though, resides in Sugarhouse in Utah. My name's Doug, and I'm a pulp author. I write the Executioner, Stony Man, Mack Bolan and Outlanders novels for the Gold Eagle imprint of Harlequin. Sadly, it wasn't until after eight years of writing the Executioner that I finally got to shoot a Desert Eagle (last summer). Though, I do dearly love the Beretta 92FS.

I've been lurking around here, since finding the link on Mad Ogre's sideroll. I visit the Ogre's blog every day. I promise to keep my fiery, cranky temper in check, and hope to learn a lot here, and read a lot of good stories shared by others on this board.

Hi. I guess I'm behind the times because I joined in October and forgot to post the obligatory "I'm new" before I posted my first post. Sorry about that and I'm darn glad to be here.:)

Well I'm from Oregon and I collect antique rifles. I hunt and reenact. So I have a certain fondness for WW2 rifles. My prize is my Type 1 NM Garand, but I need to find a way to get t papered. So anyway I'm glad to be here.
