I joined this groups because while I was trying to figure out what gun I should get using random searches I was often directed to a thread from THR. I was often informed and entertained while I read through the discussions that you guys posted.

My first firearm ended up being a S&W 686 4"+ .357/.38+P

I am very happy with it. The decision was made based off a number of things. I originally ruled out revolvers because of the misunderstanding that they only had a 6 rnd cap (though, by now I've realized that for most applications 6 rnds are far sufficient). I gave them a second look after I was toying around with my buddy's .45 Ruger semi auto and it jammed twice. Just being at the range I was still uncomfortable pulling the trigger and hearing barely more than "click." I got over thinking that stainless steel is too flashy- my original sentiment. I also like very much to have the option of shooting the cheaper .38's at the range.

I described how I bought my first gun, so I imagine most of you can gather more or less what kind of person I am. Look forward to conversing with you all.

Hello! I'm not exactly new as I've been lurking for a few months now.
I'm a pharmacy student finishing my second year of pre-requisites (A's across the board so far :cool:) and plan to transfer to a university very soon.
I don't yet have a firearm, and renting is prohibitively expensive at ranges in my area, but I'm saving up to take the plunge.

I've shot a real gun maybe 3 times in my life overall, but enjoyed the experience. (AK47, CZ75B, and some nice target .22lr handgun i cant remember)

From my limited experience I can say I like the looks/feel of ruger mark I's, any decent 1911 platform, and sig sauer pistols.

I really like the content on this board, but more importantly the attitude of posters. Everyone here seems to be very conscious of safety and the gravity of reality, but also kind and mature. I look forward to sticking around, but it's 3am and I'm calling it a night :D
 
Welcome Zubrato! I'm new here too but just wanted to say "hi" and congratulate you on your grades. Good job! Great time to enter the pharmacology industry too, but you already know that! ;)

Hi, I am new. I only own a New England 12-guage that I won at a DU dinner, my husband owns many different guns, bows, etc. He is an avid hunter, which is what drew me to this site. I have never learned to shoot, he won't teach me because I am Irish and he is afraid (ha, ha). I actually was searching the web for prices of hunting land in Iowa when I found this site, and thought I would check it out. We are both against gun control and the government trying to take away our rights, so I thought I would see what was here that was interesting.

Im retired and live in West Virginia. I'm an ex Air Force Pilot and worked as a civilian for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 37 years. I started shooting a Daisy Air Rifle and progressed to a Remington 550 15 shot semi-auto .22 when I was about 14. I put a lot of rounds through that rifle in NY, NJ and VT. I'm left handed and own four lever action rifles and one bolt action Remington 511 22. My handguns are single action revolvers and older Smith and Wessons. I also own two Model 34 .380 Berettas. Both were built in 1941 in Italy. They never jam!

"Tripacer" is the name of the first plane I bought after my discharge. The Piper PA-22 Tripacer is a four place single engine airplane built in the 1950's . I kept it for about 10 years and courted my future wife flying to lots of remote, beautiful places here in the US.

I'm interested in United States history and my firearms reflect that interest. I recently acquired two weapons owned by Civil War veteran Major William M. Pratt of the 8th Connecticut. One is an A.S. Waters 1836 flintlock pistol .54 caliber smoothbore and the other is .44 caliber 1860 Colt Army along with his issue holster.

Every thread I read has at least a few comments that I would have added myself, so I am usually quiet.

Its great to be able to see plus read about so many pro-firearm topics. I live among alot of antis and take pride in turning the tide (even if it is one bucket at a time).

Hello, My name is Jason from Loganville, GA. I came across this forum while doing a google search on some guns and liked what I read here. I have a Taurus Millennium Pro PT-145 and a .38 Special that my dad gave me a few years ago. My uncle gave me my first rifle when I was about 12 years old I think. It was a .22 rifle...been shooting ever since. Still have it locked up and put away. Currently looking for my next purchase, still don't know what I want though...

Introduction

My name's Julian (Jules to my friends) and I live in New England. Recently retired and loving it! I'm a Naval aviation vet of the Vietnam War and did 10 years in service. I'm interested in blades, handguns, and impact weapons. Usually when I'm around and about I'm carrying three knives and two impact pieces...I live in a state where CCW's aren't all that easy to come by, though I was licensed in MA for 10 years. I believe in the old adage that "an armed society is a polite society" because one just isn't sure who's heeled and who is not. Way it should be. A firm believer in Second Amendment rights, I'm not afraid to let my elected representatives know where I stand and why. When it comes to shooting, I'm partial to 98k's, SKS's, Mauser C96 pistols, and the good old slab-side .45 1911A1 which I think the military was foolish to get rid of. :cuss:

That's about it for now. I'm glad to be aboard and look forward to shooting the s**t with you all!

Just joined this morning. Not a member of many sites. Saw some info on a 11-48 that linked to the site and thought I would join.

Grew up in rural south end of Louisville. Had 150 acres to myself and another 300 just out the front door. Three homes on one driveway, my parents, my aunt and uncle and my grandparents. Aunt and Uncle were my parents brother and sister! Carried a gun every day from about 10 through 17 when I went off to college. Had horses, pigs, chickens and many other farm animals. Hunted daily.

Anyway, enough of this. Thanks for having me!

Will put in my 2 cents worth when I can.

Know a little about plating and machine work. Have my own mill and laths, welders and grinders. Ran zinc and chrome platers back in early days at GE. Father was a tool and die maker.

I sell OEM components to many different companies. Do a lot of ordinance work. Big stuff, not much you carry around. Do some work for Browning 50's military only. Did a lot for Ronnie Barret awhile back (foundry burned down).

Hello, I'm new at this gun thing. I just got my first gun, an S&W .38 spec +P Model 442. It's an airweight 5 shooter. Fits good in my little hands. I just got it a couple of weeks ago and have not had a chance to take it to the range to shoot yet. But I can't wait. I plan on getting a couple of more guns in the near future. I also completed by CWP class and sent in my application earlier this month. I'm in FL so I know it's going take awhile, but it will be worth the wait. So I am here to learn and share. I'm also an ardent believer of our 2nd Amendent.

71 years and still going. When you get this age everyone thinks you know all things. Looking for info RE: 12 guage single shot break open 2.75 inch pistol grip with a folding stock. looks like pistol grip has a realse button in it. A good friend needs info. I don't know.

and three shotguns. I collect weapons as a hobby which include straight
razors, knives, swords. I mainly shoot targets, and I don't hunt anymore due to the lack of my own mobility. I am a dog lover, I have three; a Rotweiller,
German Shepherd and a Lab/Rott mix. I'm a life member of The NRA.
I look forward to exchanging ideas and gaining more knowledge of firearms

A few more guns I own but cant think of off hand. I mainly just like to plink and shoot clay pigeons. Dont get a chance to hunt much down here. You have to drive a ways to find any decent hunting. Can't find any good gun rights groups in El Paso.
I want to move back to New York and hunt some Black Bear. I love the Marlin 1895G 45-70. Just got my CCW class done a couple weeks ago. I think it takes like 60 days to get the permit in the mail. I plan on carrying my Springfield 1911 for concealed carry.
This seems like a great site with a lot of knowledgeable members.
