I was enthusiastic about it when I made the first post, but unless the selling price is significantly less than the MSRP then just buying another used S&W 1006 might be a better option.

Yes, I agree unless you have a specific purpose, "of which hunting with handloads" would be the olnly thing that comes to me, then your other 1911's would do the job just as well. And how many stores do you see selling 10mm ammo?

Gym I have no issues finding 10mm ammo, however I don't buy it in the stores. I either purchase from Underwood for SD and hunting ammo, or sites like ammoman for target loads.

When I can get it shipped to my door for free with no tax, I often find this to be the better deal anyways. My Walmart hasn't had any 9mm or 5.56 available for some time either.

As much as I like 10mm. If I didn't use it for "woods" and SD? I'd be just fine with a more common caliber.

With all the shortages we've had lately. 10mm is one of the few things I can always find, on the shelf.

Just a link to the website about the gun...

The MSRP is 1250. which means a street price of 200-300 less. Which ain't too bad if you are in the market for a long slide 10mm 1911.

Just for folks knowledge: Para-Ord was founded in 1985 in Canada. A few years back it relocated to the U.S. It was the first company to make a production double stack 1911. It did very well at this and sold a lot of them. It has also made single stack guns for a good long time now.

10mm is a very good round. It is a niche cartridge. It won't ever be wildly popular but it's too good a round to die. A number of company's make good loads for the 10mm both for hunting and defense work.

All in all. I'm glad another 10 is coming out. I am a full supporter or the 10. This one, however, is not one I would buy.

First thing is the mile long barrel. At most, 5" but really 4" will be good.

I like the single stack idea, I prefer the 1911.

Para is one I have had no experience with. I have heard both pro and con about it.

Price. They have jacked the price up. They need to price it down where the common man/woman can afford it.

Maybe this will start them with more 10's. I fully believe that the 10mm round is a great defensive round and can fill a niche.
