Stopped by my LGS on my way to the range. They have the Beretta's on sale & I've been thinking about the PX4 9MM. As I was checking out the full sized, he mentioned that they have a LNIB at a really great price. I had a gun in my range bag that I was planning on selling. Make a long story short he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Asked them to lube it up for me & off I went.

Well after firing the 1st few rds I knew that I had a real winner here. I've always been a Beretta fan. I have never fired a handgun more accurately than this one out of the box. It just fired so effortlessly, recoil was almost non existent. Excellent trigger & it just fits my hand perfectly.

Fired 200 rds flawlessly, The more rds I fired The better it felt & I couldn't believe how accurate I was shooting. I could shoot this gun all day long.

Other than it being a little tough getting the last few rds into the mags which I'm sure will ease up once they get used a bit, everything about this gun has been perfect. Typical Beretta.

Off two days next week so I plan on breaking her in proper like, but so far I am super impressed.

Bought my 9mm PX4 Inox the end of August. You're right on, excellent pistol. It's running neck and neck with my two Stoeger Cougars on my favorites list! I like the grip on the Cougar better but I shoot the PX4 a little more accurately! ;)

I bought a PX4 .40 on this forum not long ago. The pistol proved to be extremely reliable, is very comfortable(lrg. backstrap) and shoots right to POA for me. One of the best things about it is the control and follow up, to me the rotating barrel makes the recoil "roll" like a .45 but with less muzzle flip. Mine is a DA/SA but the PX4 is also available as DAO.

I have a PX 4 SC as my carry pistol. It shoots great and is very comfortable to carry for long time periods of time in my Crossbreed Super Tuck.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the writing. The import marking and the "Made In" are pretty common on imported pistols. At least the writing is not written in big billboard letters like on some others.

I used to have a full size PX4 in 9mm, and the only reason I sold it was to buy a 90-two for a very good price. The pistol shot reliably, and it had the softest recoil impulse of any 9mm pistol I have ever shot. It felt like a soft push. I may get a PX4 compact in 9mm later on.

Funny someone should mention PX4's. I saw one in my LGS today. I loved everything about it, the ergonomics, the capacity, etc., except for the trigger. I didn't like the SA trigger at all. But I'm spoiled from shooting 1911's. I must say though, that after shooting one this past July, they are extremely accurate. In fact, I was almost as accurate with the PX4, a gun I was completely unfamiliar with, as I was with my 1911, which I have quite literally been shooting for years with. :what: Go figure...

Oh yea

...

Got my Px4 40 G-model/s 5yrs ago, and between the original and the NIB replacement 2yrs ago (first developed trigger sting) I've got a total of just over 11k flawless rounds.

Most that I've let shoot it, for the first time, coming from the 9mm camp are taken by surprise at the accuracy and the soft recoil and quick, back on target, balance of the gun.. 180gr sub-sonic ammo

3 choices available now -

Top/full size w/rotating barrel - Middle/Compact (tad smaller than a Sig P229) w/rotating barrel

Bottom/Compact SC w/tilt-up barrel action

And with the bad economy they're (the full size as far as I've seen) can be had for mid to very low 400's NIB

I've started looking for a Px4 Compact in 9mm as a complement to the my .40S&W Px4/CX4 ..cuz, one must ALWAYS have a good reason to buy a new gun ;)

MikePaiN what type of scope do you have on your CX4?
My wife wants a CX4! I've got a 92 and a Px4, both 9mm, so not sure with model of CX4 I'll get, the one that uses the 92 mags or the PX4 mags. I'll probably go with whatever model my LGS has. I definitely want a scope and I'm curious to type and brand you have on yours. Thanks!

How does the recoil of the PX4 in .40 compare with the 8040 Cougar? I had the 8040 Cougar for a while as my only pistol in that caliber, I decided it was a little too snappy and got rid of it. I'm fine with .45ACP but just didn't care for the .40 even in the fairly heavy Cougar.

It's very, very light, recoil-wise. However, that being said, recoil is subjective. When I shot it, I had no problems whatsoever keeping it on target. I feel like the lack of recoil has something to do with the bore axis being lower and the rotating barrel, but not being a Beretta aficionado, I'll leave that to an expert.

I've never shot an 8040 Cougar, sorry can't compare. The PX4 .40S&W does not recoil like a typical polymer .40S&W. I've heard it described different ways especially as "like a 9mm", but too me the recoil is a pulse that rolls like a hefty .45auto but with less flip. Very quick back on target and comfortable.

I was at the range a few days ago, and the guy shooting beside me was curious about my Glock 19, so I started asking questions about his Px4 sub compact 9mm, so I got to shoot it and loved it. The trigger is REALLY long, but its something I think I could get use to. Maybe someday....just another gun on my "list" :)

Gearhead,

I had the same experience. I had a 8040 and didn't care for the muzzle flip either. Recoil doesn't bother me, but muzzle flip irritates the hell out of me. I found the 8040 a tad hard to hang on to with my skinny fingers. I shot it accurately, but follow up shots were way to slow for my liking. I thought about getting a different .40 pistol, but all of the reviews I read said that the Cougar was one of the softest shooting .40's out there. I realized I just don't care for the .40 caliber in general, which I'm glad I realised since I was thinking about getting a 10mm. I have since sold that gun to my father, who shoots it well, and reinvested the money in an FNP-45. I find the .45 ACP to be a lot more fun and easy to shoot quickly, especially with the agressive checkering on the FN. The Cougar was a fine pistol, and I would definately buy another one (or a PX4) in .45 or 9mm, but I think I'm done with the .40 caliber in general now.

That was exactly my experience. I wanted to like the .40S&W and the Cougar should have been a good platform for it, but it didn't work for me. I sold the pistol and gave the leftover rounds to a co-worker. I love my FNP-45, it's soft-shooting and quick to regain the target. It's also my most accurate pistol. I still have this nagging feeling that I didn't give .40 enough of a chance but I'm satisfied for now with 9mm and .45ACP in my semiauto arsenal.

I absolutely love my PX4 chambered in .40, accuracy is amazing. Only failures were due to my reloads, which has been corrected, is 99.999999% reliable, haven't found the 0.000001% failure yet but nothing is 100% reliable.

Fired over 500 flawless rds this week. I am thrilled with this firearm,.It's so easy to shoot accurately. It also returns to target better than any other 9mm I've ever fired.
