New Remingtons in Magazine

My newest issue of Guns of the old west has pictures of the three new Remingtons, Two BP's and one 1875. I've noticed the two 1858's are different behind the loading lever, besides having different trigger guards. The aricle dosen't mention why the difference in the frame behind the lever. (looks like a hole there). Was anyone at the Shot Show to see these up close? Are they making one in .36 also, or are they so new there isn't much info yet?

Who is it that the cover story indicates they are made by?

Are they guns made by U.S. Firearms?

If they are, then they haven't been included on their website and catalog yet. The company did announce that the new 1858's are being made under a license agreement with Remington. So maybe they more closely resemble the originals.

On that same note, why is Uberti's new site reffering to their Remington selection as "new improved"?

I don't see anything about "new and improved", but they did start making the all blued version with a forged (as opposed to cast) frame, a little while back.

What would be neat would be if Remington made Remington '58s and '75s. Kind of like how Colt did some Dragoons.

Sorry it took a day to reply, yes they are listed as U. S. Firearms contracted by Remington. The middle '58 looks to have a triangular cutout in the frame behind the loading lever. I dunno....

I don't know what is "new and improved" about the Uberti '58s on their website, but I would definitely be interested in one of their stainless target models. Let's hope Cimarron markets one as well.

Anyway, since they don't say anything about the stainless version being 'new and improved', I'm pretty sure they are talking about the forged frame.

I don't know what is "new and improved" about the Uberti '58s on their website....

I wish I could recall the whole story, but I read somewhere that Uberti has changed the manufacturing technique used in making the Remingtons .....
That's what's being refered to.....

Is that new manufacturing technique present in 2008 models? anyone know if they have come ashore yet?
