My 22/250 VLS Remington finally gave up the ghost. Throat is really burned out. I looked all over for a replacement, nothing but Axis II's around. So I said, what the heck, lets rebarrel this one.

So I order from Jim at Northland Shooters Supply a Criterion 22/250 Remage barrel 1/9 twist, the nut, the machined lug the wrench and the tool that holds the lug. It came in 4 days later and it is beautiful. This deal with NSS was a great experience.

Then I'm thinking about spotting this new barrel and lug into my stock. So I says to myself, " Garry, Garry, you never liked that stock in the first place." So what do I do but order a KRG Bravo chassis stock. And while I'm looking what the heck the adjustable butt pad, not the polymer one, no, the aluminum one. That would have come in Friday but Fedex delayed and it came today.

Now it's head slammed into a wall time. On the 16th I ordered the barrel vice from Optics planet. Then on the 18th I was thinking about the project and decided I didn't want to use my Sightron SII 6-24 dot scope. So I ordered a Vortex 6-24x50 Diamondback Tactical FFP Riflescope, then an extended Weaver base. A couple hours later I remembered I needed 30mm rings, ordered that. Let me point out, they all said in stock and all said ships in 1-4 days.

Check on it Wednesday. The order on the vice and the order on the scope and base both show "processing" the rings show "Shipped". I sent them an E-mail and in three minutes got a form letter as a reply. Asked again Friday and again got the same form letter. The I find out that shipped seems to mean they printed the label, not that it left the facility. It still says "Ready for Pickup" as it has for several days.

Let me note something, they took the money from my account in two hours. No delay in that.

Gotta think this is the last with Optics Planet.

This kind of SNAFU, miscommunication, and tracking confusion has been pretty common lately. Amazon Prime seems to be the only sure bet.

I ordered that same scope for my AR-10, but it came with a nice cantilever mount in the package. Love it so far, but I didn't get any kind of runaround from Optics Planet. It's possible they've been victims of "don't wanna work syndrome," like a lot of businesses around here. Seems that last 1400 bucks has caused a lot of people to take unscheduled time off-damn the consequences, since they think covidiocy is the be-all end-all excuse, and they'll be able to return to work whenever the hell they want. You should see some of the signs posted on businesses here.

Optics planets shortcomings are magnified buy the current shortage.

Anyhow you can cancel since it has not shipped and they will refund to your card. It should be back on the card within 3 business days. This might be your best option.

Something similar happened to me a couple months back -- on Gunbroker, of all places!

I did a buy-it-now auction purchase on a bullet mold, paid with Visa, then got a note a week later saying the auctioned item wasn't in stock. The purchase amount was refunded, but what the heck? Ghost merch really ticks me off!

I hope your problem gets resolved quickly and with minimum pain.

I’ve stated before that I would only purchase from Optics Planet as a last resort. Fortunately that hasn’t happened. It’s not the exception but the rule that Optics Planet dings your credit card for an item they show as in stock when in actuality it’s not in stock. I had this happen multiple times in 2012 with them. It’s SOP with Optics Planet to do this. I have almost as much contempt for Optics Planet as I do Cheaper than Dirt.

I swore off OP after my first order but gave them a second chance years later. While they have tested my patience a time or two I have always received my orders within the parameters of their ETAs. Their shipping is what I call “steady by jerks”; lurch/stop/repeat.

This is a very unusual time in the firearms/accessories/ammo world. I mentioned before that Kittery, ME Trading post had very few long guns and almost NO ammo the last time I visited (a couple of months ago). I would assume that every firearms products are flying off shelves and may be back-ordered, even to the factories. It's Democrat fear-buying and it may be worse before it gets better. I don't recommend selling any shooting stuff before you get a replacement.
