Hey guy's thought i would show off my new Remington 700 ADL and ask a couple of questions too.I paid only $449 + it came with a $40 mail in rebate from Remington its chambered in .270 cal and has a laminated stock.
Sitting on top is a Nikon pro-staff 3x9x40 witch brings me to my first question.I have one already and it has held up to my mini-14, but thats only a .223.
1. Is this scope tough enough for the recoil on this gun ?
2. Can anyone suggest some good but not too expensive ammo for the range ?(target/paper) Im not hunting with her yet.
3 . What kind of accuracy can i expect out of it say at 100 to 150 yards?
4. Has anyone experenenced any issues with this Model?
I would love to see pics of your 700 and any mods you have done there's alot of variety with these rifles so lets see them.

Congrats, you've got a great looking rifle that will last a lifetime.

1-Yes, the scope will be fine.
2-If you can find HSM ammo, it is cheep and accurate. For hunting, i use Federal bluebox 130 grains SP's and achieve really good groups.
3-You should be able to obtain 1 MOA from a bench with quality ammo.
4-Not really, it's a 700, the rifle in which all other rifles are judged.

Here's mine, a Remington 700 .270 w/Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40

The scope will be good. I have one on a 270 WSM and it is holding up well. Good scope for the $$ spent.

I have not purchased a Remington gun as of late, but I do understand that there is a quailty control problem with some of the guns. From what I've read is, you get a good one, with no problems or you get a lemon. The older Remington were good guns, lots of ADL out there with no problems.

1 - yep, the scope is fine.
2 - you really will have to do an ammo test to find what the rifle likes. get as much variety of brands and weights as you can find and shoot each one for groups to find the rifle's sweet spot.
3 - using ammo the gun likes, 1 - 1.5 moa is realistic and acievable w/ factory ammo.
4 - yes... the gun seems to kill stuff quite regularly.

congrats on the new stick!

Nikon pro-staff 3x9x40 .....1. Is this scope tough enough for the recoil on this gun ?

Yes. The Pro-staff is about the best scope you can get without spending another $100. That's what we put on my sister's .280. It'll be fine.

2. Can anyone suggest some good but not too expensive ammo for the range ?(target/paper) Im not hunting with her yet.

I'd probably just use good 'ol Remington green & yellow box core-lokt. There really isn't much in the way of match ammo for the .270. You'll have to handload for that.

3 . What kind of accuracy can i expect out of it say at 100 to 150 yards?

1 MOA should be achievable if you do your part. I've never had a Remington 700 that couldn't at least do that with ammo it liked.

4. Has anyone experenenced any issues with this Model?
I would love to see pics of your 700 and any mods you have done there's alot of variety with these rifles so lets see them.

Issues? no. They're just the economy version of the 700. No hinge4d floorplate, cheaper stock, less refined metal finish. Same action and barrel as BDL, CDL, etc.

I no longer have this rifle (traded it for a Jeep Cherokee, which I later traded for a Dodge Ramcharger), but it always shot well. The stock is a Choate Ultimate Sniper (I kept the stock)

sounds like it's going to be a great hunting rifle. congrats on the new toy! as others have said, the scope should be just fine for that rifle. i'm afraid i don't have any ammo suggestions as i don't have a .270. i'd also expect about 1" groups at 100 yards with hunting ammo. plenty accurate for deer out to 300 yards or more.

the only issue i have with my 700 is now i want more of them! i bought an SPS Varmint in .308 and duded it up for long range shooting despite claims of quality control issues at Remington. i must have gotten one that was made by someone having a really good day that day. it shoots 1.25" groups at 300 yards! i love it!

here's the gun:

Nice rifle's, i like the sniper look these guns look like they can definitely reach out and touch someone, or thing.

Hard to beat a 700. Nice lookin gun. The one I shoot is nearly 40 years old and still will put my handload in less than .75 inch consistanly at 100 yards

If you really want to make her shoot you have to consider a couple of things. First of all is the trigger. A decent gunsmith can easily get it to 3 lbs and crisp, a little lighter if you bribe him enough. (Or you can do it yourself if you are mechanical and VERY careful.) Ammo is a crapshoot if you don't reload. Try a few and see, just make sure you have stabilized the other variables first! Obviously you want to torque your scope mounts, ring screws, and action screws. Have fun, remember to breathe, and squeeze straight back! You have the basis for a very nice rig.

the stock is from boyd's: www.boydsgunstocks.com/ - it is the 'applejack jrs'; a fairly heavy stock, weighing in at about 7 ounces heavier than the factory synthetic stock that was on the gun. the stock fit well, but the barrel channel was cut for a lightweight barrel, so i had to open the channel up (60 grit sandpaper, some deepwell sockets, and a couple hours of sanding and test fitting). the jrs stock has a fairly long length of pull, but i found i really like the way the stock feels. it comes up to my shoulder naturally and lines up great. i am really impressed by the stock.

the gun will be re-barrelled in the next couple weeks (fluted ss barrel), and when i find somebody to do some cera-coating for me (graphite and red), the project will be finished.
