I can see the pics in posts 24 & 25, but not in 20.

Thanks for the testing results, can't wait to hear your results for accuracy!

I'm going to load up a bunch of mine using W231, then switch to a different powder and test for accuracy again.

I'm crimping mine, but I don't recall which crimp I'm using, might be a taper crimp or a Dillon crimp die? I don't recall, and too lazy to go downstairs to my reloading room to look.

I'm loading mine on a Lee Cast Turret with mostly Lee dies, and the new Auto Drum powder drop, which works excellent, btw...

I just got in another 1K of these, so I've got some work to do!

I'm having trouble posting, this is my fifth attempt. I'm going to do an accuracy test on this POS Laptop if this post doesn't go through. I won't be using Jake's match grade plated bullets though, I'll be using 125gr XTPs @ maximum load of 2400, for maximum destruction!

I'll be checking on my smart phone so I will know and, I may be off THR for a little while.

Your post was successful! However, laptops can make fun targets...

To be fair you should probably just shoot a few Windows disks....
Try to shoot thru the hole in the center, if you miss oh well :D
There is a chance it might not be an Windows issue
Also possible it is MAC or Linux box, in which case Windows is not guilty. (for a change)

(I loose track of the exact count but 80+ Windows servers at work, :uhoh: :cuss: windows update time on all 80 again  )

Dudedog, Haven't shot the laptop yet but am getting close.
I loaded up some more of the RMR match .357mag 158gr bullets today and took them to the range for round 2 of testing slippage.

Same gun, GP100 4".

I loaded up 6 more at 14.9gr of 2400 and this time I took 6 rounds of my XTP loads with me, also loaded with 14.9gr of 2400 for comparison.

The RMR loads were crimped just a little heavier than the last batch.

The RMR loads were as follows

#1 = 1.614
#2 = 1.612
#3 = 1.615
#4 = 1.613
#5 = 1.615
#6 = 1.614

XTP loads were as follows

#1 = 1.571
#2 = 1.579
#3 = 1.574
#4 = 1.576
#5 = 1.569
#6 = 1.575

After shooting 5 of the 6 the OAL of #6 is as follows

RMR plated w/no cannelure, 158gr = 1.622 .008" slippage
XTP jacketed with cannelure, 158gr = 1583 .008" slippage

Crimping a little heavier didn't change anything and isn't really necessary. I used a crimp adjustment that will catch a length variation of .005" in the cases without bulging them since that's the way I load my XTPs. I bulged two of them setting these up with my longest cases then backed off about a 1/4 of a turn.

The extra neck tension from the harder core is undoubted helping the roll crimp hold these just as Longdayjake and BKReloader said.

I wouldn't have thought that roll crimping into a plated bullet with no cannelure would ever equal crimping into a cannelure under full magnum recoil but they do.

I think RMR has another winner here. These bullets really stay in place, every bit as good as bullets that have cannelures and are a much cheaper alternative than buying the premium hunting bullets to practice with.

RMR, thank you again.

Thanks tiger, for the results. I loaded up a bunch more using W231, and the crimp die I'm using is the Redding profile crimp die. If I remember correctly, I'm seating mine a bit deeper, close to your XTP seating depth.

Can't wait to shoot more of these!
