It's actually a 10 shot but you're still right in that it will be a heavy .22, for sure.

Actually my German FWB air pistol can be set up to simulate mild recoil when being used as an understudy for a .22...

They're some of course who like the weight of a .22 made on a heavy center-fire platform. While they were popular in some circles some ended up (such as Colt's Python), as hard-to-find collectables because in time sales weren't particularly strong.

Amazing how much better the GP looks without the full underlug. I'd like to see Ruger offer a partial lug as an option on their other GPs.

The GeePer does look good withou the lug.

Give me one in .357 magnum, 4" half lug! I sure like this new .22.... would be nice to have both it AND a real full-sized .357 GeePer in the same setup!!!

Have a 4.2 SP in .22LR and a 4.2 SP in .357 Mag without the full lug, I think they do look much better that way.
I expect the GP to be similarly cosmetically improved.
