New Scout Mount for M1 Garand

My main concern would be the bubba-izing of an old warhorse...but that strikes me as a not-quite-completely-undoable modification. So, perhaps not objectionable. But, your gun, your choice, anyway.

There are also new-made Garands from Springfield, etc. And also mixmaster parts guns...

The general idea seems sound.

Their website says:
How is it attached? The bolt-on design replaces the hand guard. No drilling, cutting, machining or other modification to the rifle is required. Just field strip your rifle and follow the simple installation instructions. The proper hex wrenches are provided for assembly. The Ruger Mini-14® and Mini-30® model replaces the upper gas block assembly as well.

Will I need a gunsmith to install it? No. This product is intended to be owner-installed, but you can have your gunsmith do it if you wish.

Do I have to modify the rifle to install it? No. And you can easily return the rifle to its original configuration by reinstalling the OEM parts.

Based on this information it is completely reversable back to the original configuration, providing you don't loose your handguard. Wonder how solid of a mount they are and when they will be available.

Oh! I missed that. Derr. Well, if it is stable and makes no permament change to the rifle, game on.

I have six Garands. When this is released, I want to put a red dot on two of them. I am in California, so my Garand is my next fighting rifle if the "Rodney King Summer Games II" ever happens.

I took an urban rifle class with my Garand a few years ago. Everyone else had AR15s. I held my own very well. EXCEPT for low light shooting. The ARs with red dots ruled.
