last night i ordered an Amega rail for my all weather Mini 14 and im really looking forward to upgrading this little carbine to a scout type carbine. does anyone have experience with their products? i love the scout concept (very pleased with my Savage scout), and since i have two Mini14s i figured id give it a try. since i couldnt get much feedback comparing the Ultimak and the Amega i took a chance and i hope im not dissapointed.
after reading an article written up by M. Ayoob on the Ruger Scout he spoke highly of TRS-25 he mounted on the Ruger Scout so i ordered that as well. i will keep you all posted, and maybe i can get some pics of the installation.

thanks man, i will be looking for a scope as well as soon as the woman cools down. LOL
ive spent alotta money lately on a couple new guns, ammo, mags and a new knife or two.

ok....heres what ive ordered, and i think i have all i need.

from Amega ....
Mini - Scout - Mount III
Amega picatinny rail that attaches on either side of the scout mount for lights/lasers

a Vltor light mount for surefire lights
a Malkoff LED drop in upgrade for an older incandescant 9P ive had for years
and a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot

i have quite a project ahead of me. should be a quick "build" (fingers crossed) and my Mini will then be the ultimate "bump in the night" gun.

i'll get pics up when the parts start showing up and a "before and after" as well

Looks like it will be a nice set up. Looking forward to seeing the completed pics :D

I have a scope on my series 581 tactical, thinking about taking it off and going back to the iron sights. I love combat sights evan at 58 years of age, I can still use em.

FINALLY, the pics i promised.(sorry they arent the best) ive played around with this setup a bit more, including some night shooting, and im really loving the upgrades ive made to the Surefire as well as the Mini. highly recommended to anyone wanting to make the Mini14 a multi-use carbine. its much more than just a truck gun now...its will make for a great low light use carbine, especially for the critters in the yard in the middleof the night.

Reallly cool stuff. I like the way both rifles have been "scouted."

I like red dot sights, but I really like them if I have a flip-side magnifier. Have you considered adding a magnifier to the rail?
