Yes, I know this is my first post, but today was such a good day I had to post.

My friend Greg and I took a friend of mine from college and her cousin shooting today for the first time. We brought along the entire arsenal including both pistols and rifles. After explaining the safety rules, we started them out on .22 pistols and from there they went to a 9mm HiPower, Glock 23 .40 cal, two .45 1911s, a Colt Delta Elite 10mm and a EAA Witness 10mm. They also shot the AK-47 and the AR-15. The greatest part of the day was seeing my friend Alaina, a 5' tall 90 lb redhead, shooting my .44 magnum. They loved every second of it and plan on going to the gun show and shooting afterwards with us again in two weeks.

Overall, a very good first shooting experience for them and a great time for myself and my friend who took them shooting.

congrats! got any pics of the shooting day fun? (or of the redhead in a bikini?)

It's true, the best part of a good range day is sharing it with friends. Welcome to the High Road, and thanks for introducing others to the sport.

Thanks...

Thanks for the welcomes.

Sorry, no pics of the redhead in a bikini...

But I DO have some picture goodness.

Here deerie deerie deerie!

Just as a sidenote, what we took shooting.

Mine:
Glock Model 23 .40
Springfield Armory 1911 .45
EAA Witness 10mm
S&W Model 29 .44 Magnum
SKS

Greg's:
Browning HiPower 9mm
Kimber TLE 1911 .45
KelTec .380
Colt Delta Elite 1911 10mm
Ruger .22 Pistol
AR-15
AK-47

I think that is it. Anyway, the ladies shot every gun except my SKS because the stock was too long for both of them. Seeing them shoot the .44 was a sight. Both of them only shot one round.

Yes, a very good time, and I think taking first time shooters out is probably the best time I have shooting.

Welcome to THR! Hope this is only the first of many such outings. Sounds like everyone had a great time and with not one but two 10mm's, who wouldn't! :D

And photos of folks having fun with firearms are always welcome.

Nice crotch shot...

"This is my rifle, this is my gun..."

Its about time you joined. We have to take them out again soon, it was a blast, and only one mild instance of "Four Rule Infraction" that i saw, and iw as looking pretty close.

* As a side note, I'm Greg, so I get to make fun of him.

Come on in, plenty of room!

Every time you get another person interested you do more than most of us combined...

:D

Nice Going!

MORE proof that the best women are fixated on weapons of every shape and fashion (human and otherwise).

Great job getting the new shooters out there, even better that they're the fairer sex - two more converted and less prone to the drivel that the gun control lobby puts out!

The botton picture takes me back to a root question here back about 5 or 6 months ago. "Why do females lean back like that?" I, like other shooters here, slightly lean into the forward position. It's more comfortable on the spine and it is not so quick to kick you off balance. You need to get her to lean into it, not backwards. She is in control of it, not the other way around.

First of all, welcome aboard!

Its a great amount of fun to take new shooters huh? But careful, they'll keep buggin' ya and buggin' ya to take them again.

Few things I noticed however, first as someone mentioned was the girls leaning back as they shoot. Secondly, maybe try to show your friend how to properly hold the gun instead of "tea cupping" the grip (in pic. 7).

But anyways, great job and nice pictures! Looked like a great day! :)

Alaina had that problem with teacupping the grip, for some reason. I kept correcting her, but for some reason, she kept doing it. It cannot be comfortable.

If I remember correctly, that was one of the first times she shot and she was looking for the safety to disengage it. I think I had to tell her to keep her finger out of the trigger guard a total of two times, then she was fine.

Recruiting

I'm new to shooting (8 mos) but I am committed to taking a shooting virgin/non gun owner shooting at least once each year.
Can you imagine what could happen?
