Eh, i'm not too crazy about it, I guess I'll wait to see how it feels in the hand. I do like the angles to the slide but unless they reduce weight I don't see a need for them.

Wheres the thumb safety?

Theyre feelin the heat from the M&P it seems.

Holds 16 rounds of .40 by the way. Plus interchangeable back straps.

I don't really care much for the interchangable backstraps, just another toy. I do like the ruger design where you just flip it to change it.

I guess its good that they finally fixed the .40 S&W thing. Too gimmicky, too much space gun for me.

There are some pics on XD Talk. I like the looks, and they needed to make one with higher capacity. Now if they will only embrace the 10mm....

:D

see bottom right link. no pics... i guess SA doesn't want to know how people will accept the gun before they build it. every forum that pics get posted on gets the pics removed.

to tell you the truth... IMO Springfield and HS did it right with the xd as it was. I wish we could import the HS2000 because SA is bugging me with their rapid changes to a great design. You would think they would notice the xd fans hate all the design changes they tried.

IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT SPRINGFIELD!!!

If they keep screwing with the design, I'm never going to buy one. As it sat when it came out, it was pretty awesome, and I like the 5" version, but if they keep messing with it.....I just hope you can continue to obtain the version without all of this new crap.

Somebody needs to put that thing out of its misery and bury it. Quickly.

I like XD's. I'd like to get another one (traded my first for a BHP...a good trade, IMO). But that thing looks awful.

I wouldn't accept an XD with manual safety as a free gift. Why mess with perfection?!

I just saw some pictures, and WOW that's hideous. They took something awesome, and messed with every good aspect of it, it seems. I mean, I know they probably want in on the latest "changable backstrap" fad, but I seriously hope that that is a different model than the actual XD, and that I can still get a normal one later in time. If that thing replaces the current XD, then I may just have to scratch XD's off of my "to purchase" list. :(

i suppose it has a purpose. LE contracts is my guess. Certainly, I have no use for it. I do want an XD .45 with a Man safety though. I'll do a serious trigger job on it. Get it to 3-4 pounds. They can actually be very nice triggers.

interesting find

i think i will stick with the models like i have and buy more like them, no new looks, and thumb safties for me.

AAAAUGGHHHHHH!!!!! MY EYES! MY EYES ARE BURNING!!! MAKE IT GO AWAY! MAKE IT! GO AWAY!!!

No, seriously, make it go away.

First the manual safety and now this? What the heck is going on at springfield?

They're taking a simple and effective pistol and making it look like, like, gad!

It's so ugly it makes a glock look cute!

I have an early XD9 subcomp. Looks like I'll be keeping that until I die.

meh... I think I threw up in my mouth a little:barf:

It looks like a gun designed by a committee. A little of this, a little of that...

Of course, if that came out first, and the current XD was submitted as the
second generation, we might be saying the same thing:confused:
