I own both.
The grip angle is the same on the new A1 as the older M.
I find the grip on the newer A1 to be a bit nicer in that it is more stable. The texture on the grip and the flatter sides make it more stable in the hand.
The older M was a bit "slick" for lack of a better explanation and the new A1 isn't. The A1 also has a slightly deeper tang on the rear of the grip making it seat in the hand a bit deeper.
Somehow even though the A1 now has a standard accessory rail it was designed in a way where the bore axis has remained the same. I don't think there is a lower bore axis on any handgun today.
The "height" of the bore axis is what mosts interests me in the Steyr. I picked up a Glock instead of the Steyr but I may get a Steyr model too. I would like to get a more concealable model. Does the Steyr have one - say a 3 or 3/12" barrel?
steyr has the new SA1 series scheduled to come out sometime this year but its looking like late this year and could wind up being 2007. when SA1 comes out I will buying a full set. steyr in 40sw is just so damn nice to shoot for 40sw. 9mm is just sweet as well. not impressed with current offerings of subcompacts in 40sw.
the lock has not been known to turn itself on. been tested many thousands of times. mods can be done though legal ramifications can increase.the lock keeps the takedown arm in place so you cannot remove it completely.
highly subjective due to the wide variances of Human hands. that and I dont know what you mean by extreme. if the back bottom of the Glock grip bugs you, you might like the steyr better. though steyr has a curve indentation and beavertail at top of back of the grip.
