I went to my local gun shop today and saw a mil pro 9mm. I noticed it had the new henie sights on it and asked to see it. It also has the new single action just like the new 24/7 pro. I went there for a older smith revolver but the taurus came home with me. Very nice crisp trigger. I shot 100 round today with nojams. I did have one problem though. If I let the slide drop with the slide stop it will revert to double action. If I ride the slide a little it stays in single action. It stays in single action while firing. Beside that it look like a sweet little carry gun.

I paid 299 for the stainless model.

RE: DA/SA Mil Pro 9mm

OK, need some details here. There is nothing on the Taurus web site about a SA/DA Mil Pro. So, does the manual actually say SA/DA? Or is it just a smoother, crisp DAO action that feels like the SA/DA models:confused:

There is no external marking on the gun that says single action. The way to tell is the new heinie sights. I field stripped the gun and it has the same single action lock work and my 24/7 pro which is different than my older 24/7 and the mil pro I used to have. I am at work today I won't get off work until tomorrow evening I will try to post some pictures then.

It is a mil pro pt111. It states that on the slide. It also has the same slide and grip as the mil pro and not a shortened 24/7.

Thanks for the info. Typical manufacturer, not having any info on their web site. I might be real interested if they're going to do the same SA trigger on their PT145 & PT745:D

Yes it's true.

Last week I ordered a mill pro pt111 and a pt 24/7 pro. Picked them up yesterday and sure enough they have changed the mill pro pt111. They put the Heine sights it and it has the same sa/da trigger as the 24/7 pro.:)

Also picked up a galco holster #FL428 for the 24/7 pro, perfect fit.;)

Sorry to dig this up guys, but I just picked up one of these SA/DA PT111s today. Does yours only have "Millennium" on the left side of the slide and not "Millennium Pro"? Mine doesn't say Pro on the left side, but then mine has "PT111 Pro" on the other side... I was unsure of if mine was even a Millennium Pro or not, since it doesn't say that on the left side. Yet it is a new production SA/DA gun w/ the Heinie sights and 12rd mags, I'm assuming it has to be a Pro.

Also, I cannot work the slide release w/ my thumb to save my life, takes both hands and about everything I've got to work the sucker. I've disassembled it and nothing seems amiss, no burrs or anything on the slide or the slide release. Is that normal and something that will "break in" and get easier?

Seems like a sweet other than the slide release thing, can't wait to shoot it this week...

I don't have the new DA/SA model yet, but I did notice they changed the Pro from the left side of the slide behind Millenium to the right side, i.e. PT111 Pro.

It looks like that's the best way to tell the new DA/SA models from the standard DAO Mil Pro. I noticed a PT745 Pro (on the right side), with the new DA/SA at a gunshow today (my DAO PT745 has PT745 C on the right side of the slide). Came real close to getting that one, but will soon I'm sure.:)

Ah, ok thanks for the info. This was a sorta spur of the moment buy so I wasn't up on these newest models prior to buying, just assumed a Mil Pro was a Mil Pro... I only noticed the discrepencies once I got home with it.

Seeing as you're in Norcross I'm assuming I bought this sucker at the same gunshow you mention, Eastman's show at the NATC. Picked it up for $299 btw, standard blued model. Hopefully it works as well as the PT92 AF I got rid of.

Yep, it was the Eastmans show. I was looking at the PT111 also, best price I saw was 319.99 for your model, guess I missed the one you found:rolleyes:

Lowest price on the DA/SA PT745 I saw was $350, and there was only one of them, so I passed on that one too.

Heard a lot of Taurus bashing over the years but my PT111 Millenium Pro has been a superb gun. Not my usual carry piece but when I need to scale down due to clothing choices it goes with me and I feel safe. It has hundreds of rounds through it and the only malfunctions were with some cheap ammo. I had a regular Millenium first but it was awful. The Pro is sooo much better!

Look at the angle of the cut that the slide release goes up into on the slide. Is it a reverse-angle or completely square? If so, it might have been cut a bit too severe for easy-manipulation. I've had to tweak a gun or two to get easy-dropping of the slide. Or, likewise, it could be the angle of the release spur is too pointed to the top of the slide-release notch and can be altered to make release easier. Just go slow if you file these areas, you cannot put the material back!

Something better always comes along....

I chose the Millennium Pro as my first carry piece back in March. Of course I have the DAO model, and I'm pretty well satisfied with it.

This is my first DAO and first gun with 3-dot sights, so it's taken a little getting used to.

The trigger is manageable and smooth. Much more so than my SA/DA revolver. I've dry fired the Kahr DAO trigger though, and it is superior.

I find I prefer to carry with the manual safety on (probably just because it's there and I'm relatively inexperienced and don't fully trust myself), so I'm not benefitting from the simplified manual of arms the DAO trigger provides.

None the less, I am getting respectable groups at personal defense ranges. I'm sure the gun has capacity for much greater accuracy than I can take advantage of.

If I shift the grip in my hand, I can work the slide release without any trouble at all. I've noticed that if I'm not careful to fully engage it, it will sometimes release when I seat the magazine with a firm "tap" with the butt of my left hand (which is not at all requred, as the magazine seats easily with an effortless push of the thumb).

I prefer releasing the action "slingshot" style anyways.

I'd like to try that 24/7 trigger. Is it short and crisp?
