Hey yall, I'm new here, I've been reading posts for plenty long, but never joined, this is my first post, but I had to chime in on the Taurus PT111 Mil Pro. I've read alot of mixed feelings about them, either u love em, or hate em. I did lots of research on every compact 9mm/40/45 on the market & decided that this was the one. I had originally liked the Firestorm Mini 9, but never got to hold/shoot one, went searchin local shops for one to fondle, & ended up stumbling across the PT111. I loved it for everything it was & got found one at the Sportsman's Warehouse for only $279, NIB. That is the Pro, not the non-pro. Don't like the glocks cuz I like external safetys, my personal preference w/ a young, curious child. He knows plenty well what's up, but it gives me peace of mind having the key-system. I got the newest generation, w/ TWO 12 round Mags...went straight to the range & put 100 Winch. 124gr. through it in about 15-20 minutes without a hitch or even slight hiccup. Dead on w/ accuracy & w/ 13 rounds in a lil ccw, I need nothing else. check out the pics & leave me some feedback.

I couldn't agree more. My wife fell in love with ours, now I can't get it away from her. Couple tips: Use the pad of your finger instead of the joint and it will shoot more to POA. To get the takedown pin out, turn it to the release position, release the slide and let it go forward slightly, then pull it back to lock position. The pin will pop out about 3/16in. Makes it a lot easier. Also, point the gun at the floor when putting it back in, and everything will line up perfect. Enjoy!

The PT 111 is a very good auto. I know several people that carry them everyday.
I have the PT 145, which is about the same only in 45 acp. It is my carry gun. I tried large autos, medium autos, but I just wasn't comfortable. Then I tried the PT 145, and it met all my requirements - LIGHT WEIGHT, SMALL, DEPENDABLE - Who could ask for more?
You got a good one!!!

I went through the same process you did. I was looking for a 9mm that was comperable in size to a snubby revolver with more capacity & DAO.
The PT111 Pro fit all of my criteria. I was a little nervous because of some of the negativity towards Taurus. I paid a bit more than you ($330) but couldn't be happier. It's light with a lot of capacity and fits in my hand real well (with the 12 shot mag in place). Haven't had any problems and I'm approaching about 500 rounds.

I had one for awhile. Never had a problem with function, but I just couldn't get used to the LOOONG trigger pull. I suppose that's my own fault for being lazy and not practicing enough.

Otherwise, it seemed to be a really well-built gun.

Nice gun.

I think most people "run" when they hear the word Taurus. You probably need some experience w/ the gun in order to draw more people in. I know I probably would not buy one w/o being able to try someone else's out first. Some of their earlier models had some issues and burned a lot of people.

The originals never could overcome the bad word of mouth from the early problems so they came out with the Millenium "PRO" model to make it clear the problems were fixed in the newer guns. I've a late model PT-111 non-pro and its been great.

If you don't like the looong trigger pull, wait for the 24/7-PRO Compacts to come out with the new SA/DA trigger. These are going to be hard to beat in terms of size, firepower, and bang/buck for CCW.

I have to agree. The Milennium Pro series are possibly the most underrated guns out there and would still be good deals at 75% higher prices (i.e. Glock prices).

I have a Taurus PT140 Milennium Pro with 640 rounds and hundreds of dry fires. The trigger is SMOOTH- yes its a little long (it is a DAO you want it to be long) but it is smooth. Feels a lot like a good DA revolver trigger. It is very accurate for a small gun and it has proven 100% reliable thus far. So far it has fed everything I've put through it without a hitch, and that is a couple hundred rounds of various hollowpoints (only a little over 1/2 the rounds are FMJs). It is actually a pleasant gun to shoot at the range despite the small size, light weight, and the .40S&W caliber. Fit is perfect, all parts come together just right and of course there is no rattling. Finish is decent- mine is a pleasant matte blue which is only barely showing some minor wear on the high points after many presentations and re-holsterings. Sights can be a weak point as they sometimes come loose, and sure enough, my rear sight is coming loose. Nothing a few cents worth of loctite and a couple seconds with a screwdriver can't fix though.

I like it so much that I have been playing with the idea of adding the PT111 Milennium Pro for the extra capacity (12 rounds of 9mm in the mag v. 10 rounds of .40S&W) and cheaper practice.

I do have one complaint though. I wish the mag didn't come with the finger extension (I think 10 rounds of 9mm or 9 of .40 in that size package would still be pretty nice). Like the Glock 26/27 it should have come with a flush mag. That would have made it's use as a pocket pistol more realistic. Then they could have had the finger extension as an option for those who needed/wanted the extra length or extra rounds. Heck, have a couple mags each way and you have both depending upon your needs at that particular time.

My wife digs hers....me too

I bought my wife one after I fell in love with my PT145 and she said the 45 kicked too much for her. Actually, I think the nine feels like it kicks a lil more due to the slightly narrower grip, but both are plenty acceptable.

In hindsight, I should have bought my PT145 in stainless (if they exist) since it is frequently the camping pillow gun. The stainless would be nice for this, we went camping this weekend in the Oregon Cascades. And it rained hard. I was surprised I was able to keep it dry with that humidity.

Anyhow, both feed flawlessly and both are PRO models. Hats off to Taurus for addressing the issues from previous generations. However, I can also understand how this is not acceptable by some and alienates them forever. Their loss, my gain. Easier to get my grubbies on them that way. ;)

And, the 24/7 with DA/SA trigger in compact is available now. I recently looked at one in the gunstore, wish they were out when I bought mine. I do prefer the DA/SA trigger, just seems easier to keep tighter groups on paper. It did not have the rubber grip, but apparently it comes in either rubber coated, or like the Mil Pros.
