I saw on benchrest website that there was a probable new world accuracy record for light varmint class (10.5 lbs) rifle shot last week. Said average size of five 5-shot 100 yd groups was .1328" which is close to 1/8." Didn't say what rifle, caliber, bullets and powder were used but would be facinating to know. Does anyone have more details?

The smallest 'rifle' round that comes to mind is the .17 and even if they all went thru the same hole the group size would be over that .1328 you reference?

Perhaps I am confused as to how to measure group size? I always thought it was outside edge to outside edge of the holes?

Group size is center to center of farthest apart holes, or outside edge of holes minus bullet diameter. All through one hole would be a 0.00" group.

ETA: I gotta learn to type faster.

Thanks for the info - it has been a loooooong time since I had to measure my shots in a competition - these days I only strive for MOD (Minute of Dead) accuracy.

Here is an example. They measure the widest point and subtracted bullet diameter. Too bad I didn't get all five in the group on the second one. A classic 4 & 1 group. Argh. :)

A .1328 aggregate is awesome! Even five of the targets on the left would not come close at .1860.
