Tisas restored my faith in the 1911 platform after horrible experiences with an 80 Series Colt and a Dan Wesson Pointman/Patriot semi-custom.

So far I've purchased four Tisas 1911s (and a couple other Tisas pistols) and all have simply worked flawlessly from the first round and now through several thousand rounds. They are simply boringly reliable and accurate. Doesn't hurt that they also punch way way above their weight class.
T-Sauce is the MAN! my next itchy cheap gun is going to be a SDS with all the fixings! 2 safety, rail, cuts, trigger, 10mm too

I like my XDS45 a lot. I liked my Tisas 1911 a lot.

The XD series is dirt cheap on the used market right now. Mine had barely been fired and I paid a little less than $310 OTD a couple of months ago. For me the recoil is easy. Different strokes for different folks.

I liked my Tisas 1911 and I've liked my RIA's. I shoot them a LOT. You don't have to pay a lot for a 1911 that's reliable and easy to shoot. Get bigger sights. The little GI style are hard to use, especially as you get older.

For carry, the XD45. For HD or range toy, the Tisas.

Both good pistols that don't cost much.

that XDS is hard on the eyes! Woo Wee.. lol don’t forget thr Grip Zone

I voted XDS. I have a Norinco 1911 and an XDS 4.0. The Norinco is easier to shoot, the XDS easier to carry. The XDS does have an ambidextrous mag release. It’s been dependable and shoots to sights. Depends on your use for it.

I just think the Rapide is just... ugly. Sorry.
Heh, that's how I feel -- it is ugly, but I was trying to be tactful, since you were the first to exclaim that the emperor had no clothes, I can pile on;)

The Tisas is a wild card. They look good on paper, the price is right, but I have no direct experience with them.
They are interesting, and they kind of grow on you. I never (as an affirmed 1911 snob) would have considered one, but the pending changes to my state's gun laws prodded me to buy some more guns simply to exercise my right to do so while I still can. Also as I mentioned, the guys on the 1911 forum are all over the Tisas, a lot of positive reports coming out from some pretty savvy 1911 guys.

The Stingray Carry is a nifty little piece, and I'll let everyone know how it works out. Like I said, now I'm semi-interested in the Raider (since I never bought the M-45 before the prices tripled and quadrupled).

For me, I'd feel comfortable going with Springfield Armory strictly because of the company's history and the predicted reliability of one of its 1911s, but Tisas does seem to be about where SA was in 1990, solid quality 1911s at a great price point.

The TTH-45 is intriguing, certainly, the price is definitely attractive, so maybe worth the risk. I don't know that it does anything that my FNX-45 (15+1, ambi-safety) can't do, although it appears to have very nice ergonomics and some neat features -- unfortunately, this pistol hasn't made it here yet as we have the 10-round mag capacity restrictions going now. Going down in capacity for a pistol that size rather negates its value then.

They had one of those at the LGS... I had to do a double-take... I thought it was a Kimber Desert Warrior! That Tisas is pretty darn appealing at that price point, vs the Kimber's

The Stingray Carry is a nifty little piece,

For the price of the Stingray, just get a Kimber Pro Carry or CDP...

ProCarry on L, CDP on R. (My Eclipse Pro II is in the center.)

Now of course I have a budget and the more I spend on a new firearm the less firearms I can buy.
Well that's pretty much true of all of us. So what is your choice? Quality or Quantity?

I voted back and forth between Springfield and Kimber. I have a stash of 1911 guns mostly Colt Series 70 guns. I also have 3 Kimber guns all 3" and I like them. The rap on the Springfield guns is good based on my read and the few I have fired.

I would never, ever, buy a Taurus again. I had 2 of their PT1911's, they were both junk. One shot so far left I couldn't correct for it, and the other had an improperly heat treated slide that started to peen.
On the other hand I have owned two. #2 grandson now has the first and I still have the second. Neither has given a problem in all the years we have shot them. #1 grandson has owned one even longer and it has been trouble free. Every manufactuer of anything mechanical makes a lemon now and then. I am sorry that you managed to get two of them.

I found nothing in the OP's post of any interest except for the 1911's. I have no experience with either. I have read quite a few negative posts about Kimber and Springfield was OK with some anti 2nd amendment things several years ago. Staying with the choices I would choose Kimber and hope for a good outcome. My farm and ranch store usually has some in stock and they are certainly nice looking guns. I have also seen a Springfield or two there. I believe the Kimber's have the edge in looks.

It's actually a pretty faithful copy of the Colt M-45 (first called the "USMC") that was issued to MARSOC for a time. The original Colt's had finish issues, then they changed the rollmark to "M-45" and then the prices went from around $1500 to $3-4000 (if you can even find one now). Series 70 internals on the Tisas, I actually think it's a bit better take than Kimber's. Not that I have anything against Kimber 1911s (have owned several) and still consider my TLE II and CDP Pro among my favorites.

Just get a NightHawk and nobody will ever doubt you
I swear, with every new pistol it comes out with, Nighthawk's guns get uglier and uglier. Give me a clean Ed Brown or Baer any day, even Wilson stopped making cool 1911s when it decided little double-stack 9s were its ticket to selling a lot more pistols.

I’m going to agree with you their! But a Classic 1911 with only the good stuff is not what Cool Tactical Police Officers want.

Me… Sell you your old NH!!! single stack please!

I am a Springfield guy have 3 of there 1911’s in 45 and a XD 40 and a new XDm Elite Precision 9mm , 5.25 . They have all been super reliable my 40 is 20 years old I needed a new recoil spring for it called Springfield gave them the serial number and they sent me a new one no charge , can’t ask for any more than that.

A Colt Competition can be had for not a crushing amount of money, has Series 70 mechanicals, a double recoil spring, and a fiber optic front sight. And you can always get your money out of a Colt.
I've a Tisas GI 1911, which is nicely done, and a GP-35, more of the same. The Turks make good stuff.
A late buddy, with a lot of experience with 1911s, preferred a full size pistol for any serious amount of shooting.
I, briefly, had a Colt Defender in .45...great to carry, really tiring to shoot.
For the OP, what is really your game plan with this new pistol?

I’ve got the Colt Comp (45), and it’s nice. I did have my local gunsmith work it over and he changed out some of the internals and smoothed out my trigger.

The SA Loaded 5” .45 is a nice gun. Fit and finish on mine was very good, the trigger was 4.25-4.5 lbs out of the box, the sights are good, it shoots well, etc. My only beef is the full length guide rod. Those are not my favorites.

The Ruger SR 1911 is another pretty nice gun at a mid-range price point. Thd trigger on mine was a bit hefty at nearly 6 lbs so that needed attention, other than that issue it, too has been a great gun.

My two Kimbers are both 9mm, but if a Stainless Target .45 shoots as well as my Stainless Target II 9mm does, you would be in for a real treat. The Rapide looks pretty cool, but here in Ca they are not very common so I haven't held one.

As for the CZ 97B mentioned earlier, its a traditional DA/SA .45 with a ten shot magazine. I am really disappointed that CZ has discontinued making them. I got mine literally a few weeks after they announced that they were done, and after installing the complete set of CGW springs everyone who has shot it really likes it.

I havent any experience with the others on your list.

Good luck finding a new .45!

Stay safe.

I went with the Springfield Loaded. I have my dad's and it has been a great gun. It's very reliable and pretty accurate. I'm going to give it to my youngest son when he is ready.

I will say that I also have a Nighthawk GRP and a Glock 21. To be completely honest, the Glock shoots right there with the GRP. If the Glock fits your hand it would be worth considering.

My XDs in .45acp is not a pleasant shooter... hand hammer is a good description. My very similarly sized Kar CM45 is much more comfortable even though it is almost exactly the same size and weight. I am referring to an XDs gen 1, I have never shot a Gen 2.

My XD mod 2 3.3" in .45acp is my favorite plastic gun. Everything about it just makes it a really nice shooter. I think it would be kind of redundant to a XDm subcompact though.

If you don't own a 1911 then that would be my suggestion. My 1911's are purely range guns but they really excel in this role. 1911's are pretty close to the bottom of my list for carry. I voted for the Kimber Ripside only because I prefer stainless.

P.S. My XDs and CM45 aren't really pocket guns. Sure, you can get it into a pocket but it is too big to get out of a pocket quickly or easily. They do pack very nice and slim IWB though.

I'm a fan of the 1911 platform. Most any reputable companies' guns will shoot fine. Most any 1911s will shoot fine with 230 grain RN ammunition after a bit of tuning as long as you know what you are doing.

I have 1911s from Colt, Sig, Springfield, Thompson and home assembled. The Thompson shot ok from the get go but really began to shine when I installed a premium barrel in it.

I'd really prefer to shy away from the bargain based priced 1911s mostly on principle. They are good project guns but if you are weak on how to work on one, you will be frustrated and dissatisfied.

But, let's go out on a limb, consider a 45 ACP revolver such as the S&W or Colt 1917 or an S&W Model 25-2. A thing of beauty and joy forever in the 45 ACP world after buying a 1911.

P.S. Moon clips rule!

I will primarily use it for range fun. It may be used some while hiking in a OWB holster.
I have owned both a XDS (mod 1) & a 1911 Taurus. I traded them both off years ago and thinking about trying the pistols again.

you gotta try a T-Sauce! it’s really good & cheap!

I’ve got two SA 1911’s.

The Mil Spec could be lubed with gorilla glue and run sand encrusted steel case ammo and still work it seems like. It just flat runs.

The Loaded has become a good one. I ditched the FLGR and installed a GI set up. The firing pin stop on mine was undersized and I had some clocking issues. Ordered a Wilson fps, installed it and no more clocking. And now the Loaded runs very well.
