Im sure anyone who has seen the movie thought "what a crock" well I did. i always think that when I hear a hollywood silencer sounding like a spit wad shooter. having fired many silencers myself from .22lr where all you hear is the action of the gun to a .308 that sounded link a 22lr. but a shotgun i have yet to see or hear. Im sure it could be done with a slug or buck shot like the movie. Has anyone ever seen or shot one?

Yes, but to no where near the degree they do it in the movie.

The examples I read about sound about like a .38 special.

I don't see it unless maybe, just maybe, with a slug.

I could see it done with a slug.

The two examples I have seen both fired shot.

They used a shotcup that was more of a thick capsule type.

after Anton got his bone put back in his arm he went and killed Mr Moss, took the money, got a real haircut with it from a gay dude in El Paso, then got a slimmer silencer for his shotgun and learner how to curve a shotgun slug.

Yeah that makes sense too. If you could keep the shot cup close to its original shape as it passed the baffles in a suppressor I could see that too.

I would be VERY worried about a baffle strike using regular flimsy shot cups.

It's all about having as little gas as possible bypass the baffling system.

Would be very cool to tinker with, shame all these ignorant laws are in place.

I would be worried of a strike shooting anything other then a slug through a suppressed shotgun. 00buck maybe. anything smaller would be striking the sides i would think.

But, the last time I saw the money, it was laying on the river bank across the fence. Right before Woody Harelson got killed. Did it ever show the money again ?

For those of you who wonder what i'm talking about, watch the movie.... or better yet, don't. You will be as confused as I am.

yea Moss got the money and left with it. Anton killed his wife, broke his arm, and that was about it. thats one of those "you come up with your own ending" movies and tell all your friends about it how you talked to the directors about it.

Tony Rumore (the guy that owns Tromix) was working on a suppressor for shotguns.

Here's one of his converted Siagas with one.

Can't find anything on his web site about it though (at one time there was a YouTube video)

I have a form 1 ready to send into the ATF. Mine will be a 12 gauge can looking something like this.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

as far as the movie:

The Gang in the 4wd caught him at the hotel, and blasted him in his hotel room...after he left from the pool, where that chick wanted him to sit and have a beer, which he didn't (fool!).
He's found dead laying face down just inside his hotel room by Tommy Lee Jones. (we never see his face, but it's his shirt you see on the guy laying face down. The gang takes the money back across the border...after taking his life.

The wife was killed because the badguy made a promise that he would, and she wouldn't flip the coin, and didn't take the 50/50 chance at being allowed to live, so he snuffed her, and wiped the blood off his shoes as he was exiting on her "welcome" mat.

Tommy Lee Jones realizes that it's "No Country for Old Men" anymore.
:)

I think a more important question is how he got a hold of a Remington 11-87 in 1980 when they didn't come out until 1987.

No math for me. All of the silencers I made have consisted of guessing, dial calipers and a lathe. :)

Is there a quote function I could be using? I do not see it anywhere.

Not only was it really, really quiet, it was 'stealthy'and had a Klingon Cloaking Device that covered the shooter and the gun from public notice.

It also had consumable cases.

The book seems to be better, we'll see.

There was an article in F&S or OL a few months/ a year back that talked about something like a silencer for shotguns. It was really long I think. The Russians made a silenced revolver, their Nagant revolver seals up so it works.
