I have a bunch of x39 that are in a plain white box that states made in Russia to hunting specification. Mine have the 97 year mark. It's not corrosive. It was really cheap when I bought it. Wish I had bought more. OH well, hind sight is 20-20.

If it is corrosive you need to make sure you clean the rifle very good. You can buy barnaul 7.62x39 non corrosive ammo right now all day for 159.99 + shipping from Cope's distributing. Shipping to me was an extra 20/case of 1000, but I live very far away from them. Runs out to 3.60/20 shipped to my door without having to worry about corrosiveness. RG

I think all military Russian ammo is corrosive. By the way, just because it says "Non Corrosive" on the package does not make it non-corrosive. All Russian ammo coming in in 1995-1997 or so said non-corrosive and virtually all of it was corrosive. The early Barnaul 204 grain stuff was corrosive - I know, I have a bunch of it. The B-Square was corrosive, too.
