No new Ruger orders?

Wow. I've been trying to get an SR1911 for weeks without spending more than MSRP. They just can't be had locally, but I do believe I made it onto a list at a shop that has already placed an order. I'm hoping I get a phone call soon. I know Ruger doubled their production on the SR1911, or at least procurred the machinery to do so. Whether they have actually doubled production or not I don't know.

What do you know, the Big O actually managed to stimulate the economy after all! And, after spending all our tax dollars plus a bunch, here we find out all he needed to do was spend his campaign funds.

Amazing that the only jobs being created in the country are those that promote our Second Amendment rights. Don't get me wrong, I think it's Wonderful that people are finding work but it speaks volumes IMHO about this nation 's current and most precarious disposition when the only thing selling well is guns and gold. I'm just saying...

PT92 - I make note of that quite often too. Ruger is (rumor has it) hiring another 100 employees to keep up with demand. I think our country would be far worse off economically speaking than it is if not for the many manufacturers, importers, distributors, consumers, NICS check employees (unfortunately :) ) and so on.

Justin - A Bible, like a gun, is best purchased now than when most needed. :D

I didn't read this thread, I apologize if this was posted. Ruger is not making any more SR1911s this year.

Words of wisdom as the two indeed go hand in hand.

Remember what the liberals said last election, we 'people' tend to cling to our guns and bibles...;)

Meh---there are 2 Rugers on my radar but they are just back-ups to the Rugers I already have----I can wait till the dust settles and sanity returns.

Its an understandable move, though realistically it puts me purchasing an SR1911 probably ANOTHER year out, as I doubt manufacturing will catch up for a couple months and even after they start taking orders again I'm sure it'll be hard to get one.

Glade to see them doing well though. Always been a Ruger fan and an SR1911 and SR9 (hopefully a long-slide version if they come out with one) are very likely purchases, though I'm not sure exactly when.

I have not seen that kind of backlog pertaining to something I ordered with the exception of Kel-Tec--I love their products but they can't seem to hit any of their ETA's with the most recent example being the KSG Shotgun (though I hear the same situation applies to their .22wmr pistol).

And what is your source on this? It doesn't make much sense for Ruger to buy the equipment to double the output on a particular model because they are in such high demand and then decide not to build them...

Indeed. Just a guess, but it sounds like some people are hearing the news about stopping new orders and its getting twisted into stopping production as the info passes around.

The SR1911 is one of their best sellers right now. Saying that stopping production is highly unlikely would be the year's greatest understatement.

There are several reasons. The countless 'End of the World' movies and documentaries, the 'Doomsday Preppers', and the 'build your own bunker' ideas that are being shown. At least three shows about guns, dealers, and firing a weapon. A President that is so anti-gun it has got all of us that own one concerned, attempts to ban lead and other components and the threat of terrorism again within our national boundaries. No wonder 7.62X39 is drying up and gun back orders for guns go clear into 2014.

I've been considering buying another 10/22 (my 5th) for another project for the last couple of months. After reading Ruger's announcement I went today to my local Dick's Sporting Goods and plopped down $219 for one while they were still available and still priced relatively cheap. Don't really consider it a "panic buy" just prudent timing if I want to do another project 22 this year. This makes my 4th Ruger in the past 12 months (SR9c, SR22pistol, 2 - 10/22s)

Wow--I have two of some of my guns but five of the same model? Not knocking it (just don't have enough dough)--I would like to have five of a lot of my guns just because...:). Just out of curiosity, why five 10/22's?

Looking for a Ruger as a starter 1911. On a 6 month waiting list at Sportman's Warehouse and 2nd on the list in another local shop with unknown expected shipment dates...also looking at LaRue 7.62s which I believe will be just as long a wait at least :-(. Stuck with a 1947 Mauser and a ka-bar To go after feral hogs for the time being :)

Warehouses are full of ammo!

That is no good!
Warehouses are full of ammo? They are controlling the cost of lead and brass! Just like diamonds, they are controlling the flow of ammo!
Ammo at the local store finally went up. The Remington cheap 30-30 ammo is 16.99, WHAT!:what: Everything in this world is on back order? Three days worth of food on shelves, auto parts for your truck... special order, not surprised that ammo and guns are on back order out of stock, etc. They are slowly turning up the heat and boiling us frogs, for the last 50 plus years. The store sells what they think you should buy, or suppliers think you should buy, or manufactures think you should buy, NOT what you want to buy. We are being forced to buy, new, new, new or go with out. Everything is done to keep the hamster wheel of consumerism going? Do you really vote with your dollars? Does your opinion matter? Or is it like voting for president? When is the last time anyone asked what you thought or wanted and did then did that? It used to be you had a say. Now if the store or manufacturer sells something and it is the only other option, you buy it or go with out. Most people would shop at places other than WalMart if they could afford to? When your poor or broke or can't you make do with what you got or can get by with what you have at home then what? When there is no ammo and guns to buy, and your still out of work as your jobs went over seas, there will be a run on slingshots and bows and arrows? FOOD and TP!:D The worst thing is, since before 08, maybe even earlier(LOL) brains went on back order?:what::confused:

7.62 Solution, as a stockholder, I certainly DID notice what happened to the share price! If this keeps up, I may be able to consume something besides Puppy Chow when I'm 75.

I guess that 22/45 will have to wait ..
Is it the price of every item going up, up, up, or our dollar going down, down down.
