No win scenario at restaurant

What scares you? That someone pulled a knife or other weapon, or that the person being threatened responded by drawing a firearm?

What scares me is that a person who is not trained or wants to play hero in that scenario
might decide to shoot and miss his/her target. Then some else gets injured or killed. All I am saying be 100% sure of your target and your ability to incapacitate the perp. And I agree with training. I am thankful That the person who trained me was a 25 year law enforcement vet. He spent a lot of time with me on the range. I still practice every week. I also agree that if a person does pull a gun, that they are prepared to use it.

Pickup truck, no locking console or glovebox.
I guess no matter what laws are enacted there will always be places we can't carry. You probably need something that will at least slow them down a little. I don't really think the small 21ga boxes with a cable do much, but it's better than nothing if you aren't willing to spend more than $30.00 to secure your handgun. I once had a vehicle broken into in the middle of a Saturday afternoon at Chili's and they took a purse and camcorder. Apparently they didn't take enough time to reach under the seat and grab my G17. I don't leave a handgun unsecured any more in my vehicle.

I have this thing about NO GUNS signs, I usually ignore them. I know, roast me if you want but most things happen just when you hope they don't and I've never known a sign to deter a crime.

I agree completely. In MN it is a $25 fine and the gun cannot be confiscated.

Tepin it's $27. lol

Here in MN we can drink and carry. Just have to stay under a .04. This got a lot of flack when it first came out but it hasn't proved to be a problem at all. I know some people have been ticketed for violating this ruling but I believe that they has not been a shooting where the BAC of the carry permit holder has been over the limit or that his actions were wrongful if he was over the limit of .04.

Look at the laws other states have adopted and see how their experience has been. I'm afraid I can't remember the exact statements i've been told about the effect the .04 BAC law has had in MN. I must say that I currently am not carrying. If you know what i mean.

Get a lock box for your vehicle and bolt it down to the floorboard or chain it. Then you could have continued to eat your dinner.
Not picking on this poster, just grabbed the quote as an example of one of many.

Just like when choosing a weapon, action, caliber or capacity, everything has it's trade off's. Yes, I could buy some after market gizmo then go drilling through my floorboards leaving behind unprotected metal edges that might encourage premature rusting, clutter the limited amount of usable floor space or leave a hole the next buyer would have to deal with potentially dropping resale value or a multitude of other potential trade offs. But my biggest concern with these options is that one time you are returning to your vehicle and need that weapon NOW, not after you fumble with a key, combination, etc.

Everything is a trade off. The only real answer is activism and get the dumb law changed.

Yes, the no carrying in places that serve alcohol rule is silly. Other states have much more reasonable regulations, like no drinks at your table or no carrying in the bar area. I'd prefer not to have permits at all, but the solution to that is the same as changing the alcohol rule - legislative. What restaurant were you at? Somewhere on Harbison?
