That's true. Not all hunters are assault rifle friendly. For instance, I used a private FFL holder to transfer my DSA FAL to me. He is an avid hunter and has a large trophy room. He did the transfer, but when I contacted him to do another, he said he won't do assault rifles and that's final. I told him the FAL was a .308 battle rifle. He said it's all the same and he won't do it. So I don't use him anymore.

Show him the transcript of the whale wanting to ban30-30 by name , and then tell him "We shall hang alone or together."

This type of behavior isn't isolated to hunters. I have run into several collectors and "target shooters" that don't "see the need for an assault rifle."

I'm subprise at this considering that many people own AK-47s and AR-15s
nowdays...

I have 2 Uncles that think this way. They are both praire dog shooters and have quite accurate 22-250's. I asked them why any one would need such an accurate long range killing type of rifle.............................
:uhoh:

Theys sorta get the point now

Amazing, isn't it?

If you ever have a reason to talk with him again, just give him the transcript of Kennedy's rant on performance based ammunition, specifically the .30-30 part.

It may or may not do any good, and of course, its his license to do with as he wishes. Prejudice is everywhere and advice is free.

Rant mode on again................

A guy walks into a Sporting store, buys a .243 bolt action gun and a scope with some ammo. Background check, paying for the gun and drives to the range. 3 hours later he can shoot accurately out to ~300 yards.

Same with shotgun except close range power as compared to long range precision(sp).

Guy walks into same store, buys a 45 lc w/ 12" barrel. Has to wait 2 days to pick it up. This gun does not conceal well or shool long distance or have lots of power, make sence???

I know it is diffrent that original topic, but something to think about when someone says, " That does not effect me." when we are talking about guns.

Thanks for reading..................

Even better, guy can walk in and buy a .338-378 Weatherby Mag, or .338 Lapua Mag rifle, that in the right hands has a high hit probability, and will still be supersonic at, 2,000yards. That's just over a mile.

But he can't buy a Hammerelli .22 target pistol. AT ALL, EVER!

Or an AR-15 AT ALL, EVER!!! That's worthless past 600yds (maybe closer to 300 if you are talking effective anti-personal)

Both of the above, no private citizen in California can have. Peroid. They're 'assualt weapons.

However, you can have a semi-automatic, belt-fed, Browning M2HB mounted in the back of your car. Yep, it's not considered an AW. And 1000 round belts are legal if you've had 'em since 1/1/2000.

Basically, it's all just a start. They will soon close the loopholes and start taking your deer rifles.

But they will call them "Long-Range Sniper Rifles" first.

Yep some hunters/shooters/dealers are NOT our friends. I have delt with some drunk hunters and the FFL I use does NOT like to transfer any semi auto weapons. He will do them for me and a FEW others. That is it.

There seems to be a lot of this kind of thing going around lately, huh? I recall seeing some guy on one of the auction sites demanding an FFL if you wanted to buy his rifle, and it was a flintlock. That's just obnoxious.
Still, is it really the guy's personal choice alone, or is he feeling a little paranoid?

seen these types too,,but,,

its not just the PIA hunter types,,,seen this with competitive shooters( I know,, ) shotgunners, ect,,,every group has this little bunch that essentially willl just roll over for just about anything,,yrs back, when I was shooting NRA highpower, there was a good many that I ran into that said,,well they make this and that illegal, guess I will just have to give this and that up,and go find another hobby,,and they were serious,,,:banghead: ,,,that small group of people that said that , later on faded away,,many others standing around who heard what was said,,were shaking thier heads,,,just flat ignored those guys from that day on,,,
as to hunters,,same type of answers and actions,,been around many conversations in gunshops,,that I just turned around and left,,not saying a word,,why bother ,,others were argueing with them,,and the ignorance displayed by those willing to just give things up,/or the you dont need this crowd,,made you wanna :barf: ,,
sad thing is we have just as many against us inside the gun culture as we do outside the gun culture,,strange isnt it,,look around the country side,,heck look at how small a minority the peta types, the gay rights types are,,and they stick together,,yet,,we are a silent majority,,and no one sticks together for nothing,,,:scrutiny: ever notice that????

Still comes down to "...doesn't affect me..." and who's ox is getting gored, eh?

This is so true. OTOH, I have witnessed many shooters that could care less about hunting issues. In MI, they are trying to legalize dove hunting and many shooters could care less..."what does this have to do with gun rights."

Hunters and shooters need to stick together before we lose both!

And to think some of the largest sporting good stores in the upper midwest with stores in MT, SD, ND, IA, and MN decreed some weapons such as the AR family as not suitable for sale, yet they will sell you a Mini 14/30 and M1A or M1 Garand without thinking. The best thing so far I have witnessed is large SUV, with DU and PF stickers all over it, having a bumper sticker wanting the repeal of the CC legislation in MN. They just not get it! Oh well! They are stupid people.

The prime example of hunters hate of assault rifle is none other than Kerry. He is a hunter, but he would ban all assault rifles in a heartbeat if he could. Why is that? Because they view assault rifles as a tool to kill humans while they view single shot rifles to kill animals. Like killing animals is justified thing to do. How many species have become extinct or endangered due to hunting and poaching? The 2nd admendment was written to gives us the right to defend ourselves from HUMANS not animals. I have assault rifles for defense and offense from humans, not to hunt. How does they saying go; when the sh*t hits the fan, I start throwing the sh*t. So screw you anti-assualt rifle hunters.

Just an example how successful "divide et impera" is. The intolerants, called "Liberals" know how to deal with it. Even if you cut off very thin slices from ham, there will be no ham left one day.

I think I'm going to buy an AK-47 and go hunting with it in Oregon this year. Only rule that I am aware of is that I will have to put a plug in the magazine so it will only hold five rounds. Just so no one can say that no one hunts with an AK.

The only people who have ever shot at me (military aside) were HUNTERS. It happened twice. I was in the brush stomping around trying to flush some birds and some @$$xxle popped a round at the sound. Needless to say, I came out shrieking and bellowing, and I heard them running off, and the temptation to shoot back was mighty, but I'm really not that stupid. There are alot of hunters that aren't really 'gun people'.:banghead: :fire: :fire: :fire:

One reason for that attitude (at least for me) is the idea of reciprocation: you scratch my back, I scratch yours...

Ask Monkeyleg: it gets SO damn frustrating, working the gun shows for CCW< hearing the hunters who can't be bothered to take 5 minutes to fill out a post card. Or who, although they hunt, are against someone carrying a weapon for personal defense. The same thing applies to the AW ban: since they feel it doesn't effect them, they aren't going to do anything about it. And it generates, in those of us out there fighting, an attitude of "screw 'em"...
