What is your point?
People are not above training or conditioning.
Unless this kid is absolutely crazy he can be taught to be a soldier, if that is, he wants to be one.
If not why is he there? He is a trainee isn't he? He did enlist didn't he? Even if not he is there and must rise to the challenge.
The military can take this guy and make him a non-combat trooper. He can become a mechanic, or a clerk; there are lots of jobs in the military that this kid can be trained to do.
If this kid was my soldier I could train him to even enjoy shooting. I'd just have him do lots and lots of shooting. He has some kind of pre-conceived fear or phobia of shooting that is irrational. Rationality can over come irrationality with training and conditioning. People are in control of their lives and to a great degree of their emotions.
You would be surprised what a man can be trained to do. You must understand that sane people can be taught to overcome phobias. If, for example; you are afraid of heights, then climb a tall ladder daily for a month. Force yourself to do it. Eventually you will overcome or reduce your fear of heights.
I used to be afraid of spiders until I adopted a large garden spider in my back yard. I fed him daily. I found a bug and tossed it in his web (was probably a she). I forced myself to watch, at close range the spiker as he changed his pray, bit it, and wrapped it up and eventually sucked it dry. I am no longer afraid of spider. I rather like them now.
