Not what I intended

My compact Burris binoculars finally died and could not be fixed. Burris sent a new pair of 8x32 Signatures. Pretty fair deal ,but, still don’t have a pair of compact binoculars. Went to Williams Gunsite to look and took the wife with me. Did not work out as I intended. She seems pretty happy however.

Browning BL 22. Nitride receiver and maple. She is going to leave the open sights for now and may put a Skinner aperture later. She has enough scoped rimfires.

A local shop has two minty BL-22s for a reasonable sum that have been there an achingly long time.....

BL22 was my first "real gun".
A very nice, accurate rifle with a really quick lever.
I put it through its paces and it withstood it very well.

The complete package definitely has a lot more invested in it than a pair of binoculars. Pretty worthwhile though. Going on 41years total. She’d be perfect if she would dress her own deer

I've been wading in the economy (sub-$100) end of the compact binocular pool.

At one time I owned two pairs of compact Steiner Champ binos. They did the job for me, but when the focusing knob broke on one of them and I sent it for warranty repair they 1) charged me $35 up front, 2) waited about four weeks, 3) and only then told me the model had been discontinued and was therefore not repairable. They kept my binoculars and sent me a coupon for what they considered replacement cost, which was usable only through the Steiner USA webstore at full MSRP prices. Minus the upfront repair fee, their "lifetime warranty coverage" amounted to about $20 off the net Optics Planet price of their equivalent current compact model. I'll never buy from Steiner again!

I later bought a pair of Nikon's 10x25 Aculon compacts that I've been quite happy with.



I think a pair of these currently runs about $60. I haven't had to get any of my Nikon optics repaired, so I can't comment about their warranty service.
