Nother minor update......
I still havent gone shooting since the last time this was out, but ive been playing with it quite a bit.
The Archangel stock still continues to impress. The adjustables are a little wobbly but not bad, the thing FEELS really nice from any position besides standing offhand. Tho alot of that could be the 12+ lbs of weight.
Overall balance and stability with the varmint weight 25" barrel are excellent.
There were 3 things that did need work tho.
The Xmark trigger still had both return springs in it, and pulled at 3.5lbs.
I removed both, and replaced the one at the front (not accessible from outside the gun) with a lighter spring i had in my random pile of springs. Trigger is now adjusted to 2lbs, and breaks nice and clean.....i may still end up splurging on a TT primary like ive got in all my other 700 and clones, but for now the Xmark pro will do just fine.
Second was the muzzle device. This one was easy, as id upgraded the brake on my carbon 6.5 to a nicer one. The old brake got blasted to match the stainless barrel and timed. Havent shot it yet, but even tho the bore was way oversized for the 6.5, it still did a good job on thr lighter carbon barreled gun....cant imagine thats gonna change much.
Third and most noticeable besides the trigger, was i got tired of banging my hand into the scope when running the bolt fast.
To remedy this I picked up some 10-24 to 5/16 conversion studs of ebay. They are pretty nicely made, and well finished....i dont think id trust bashing a bolt open or closed to the relatively small shank, but it'll work for a range toy lol.
I lopped the ball off the handle, ground the stub to the angle that i wanted the bolt handle to stick out at, center punched it, then drilled and taped it.
I finalized the angle compared to the tapped hole so that the studs flange hit flat, and tapered the parts to make it all fit kinda close.
I then used steel bed to epoxy the 10-24 side, into the bolt handle shank. Screwed the ebay knob on and played with it for a bit.....much happier.
