When I was in the Navy, we would have "famfires". As a member of the security alert team, we would have to keep skills current by shooting our weapons when we were at sea. We would shoot 45's, M-14's, shotguns, an m60, and the M2. We would see who could skip a 50 the farthest. The 50 cal rounds sometimes would flash as it hit the water. Some of the ricochets would go off at a high angle of reflection greater that the angle of incidence. Tracers were the best!
