NRA Sweepstakes--anyone ever win?

These gun give-aways hit my mailbox every few months, and I almost always take the time to complete the forms and mail them back.

I realize my chances of winning are slim, but it's fun to research the firearms on offer, weight the pros and cons of each against each other, and dream of owning them.

Do you guys and gals send these things in, or do you toss them in the bin? Has anyone reading this ever won anything in one of these sweepstakes, or do you know anyone who has?

I'm not trying to use this to find out what anyone has in his safe, just curious.

No, I don't bother to waste my time, but I would like to see a list of winners to add some creditability to the schemes.

One would hope there's a bit of a difference between PCH and the NRA.

Good question.
you would also think that the winner of one of those contest would be a good story line for one of their magazine articles or a video.
The NRA could stand to be a little transperency in some of its dealings.

One of my co-workers has won a Bushmaster AR-15 and a 1911 but hes been entering sweepstakes since the 80's. They were 15yrs apart but still it does happen. Since he's shown me pictures of the guns with him holding them standing next to an NRA rep, I've entered all the sweepstakes I can.

I have never won anything, form anyplace. If I kept my lotto money in a bank, I would have won 6 figures simply by saving it.

I wonder if part of the reason the NRA does so little to publicize the winnings (assuming they do occur) is related to the same reason so many of us have difficulty getting across a lake with all of our guns in a boat without the boat flipping over..

Still, the latest makes some pretty good dream material..

There's the answer on this one. I never bothered with it, but I guess it can work from time to time.

I play $5 in Lotto every now and then. I figure some voluntary taxation is the price of a daydream.

I enter the NRA sweepstakes for the same reason, while supporting a better cause.

I don't enter every contest I see, but I've entered quite a few including some of the on-line custom-gun fundraising raffles where you get 5 tickets for $100.

To date, I've won movie tickets twice by calling a radio station and answering a movie trivia question. The first time was in 1967 and the second was the year NC State won the championship.

I'm due for another win. A big win.

I look at the NRA sweepstakes as similar to the local raffles fby or clubs with guns as prizes. Play if you desire; you are supporting SOMETHING.

If you read far enough into the fine print, I think you'll find there's a way to get a list of the winners. I believe that's a requirement of Federal law governing such drawings.
