How do you add it without it painting the cases with mud green spots? I've tried letting it "tumble in" while there's no cases in the tumbler for a while, but it doesn't seem to fully mix in. Help!

Maybe you're adding too much. Just a capful or so is plenty. I use walnut media with Nufinish and find that it works as well as any of the expensive stuff.

I put the brass in and let it start tumbling fully (a good rotation of the brass, every case filled with media).

Then I just dribble it in around the tumbler. It clumps a little to start, but since the brass already is full of media it doesn't go in there. I just put the top back on the tumbler, come back in a couple hours, and everything is shiny and there are no clumps.

I've never done it this way, but I think if you put it in before the brass and it hasn't dispersed fully, you can end up with the clumps inside the cases where it won't disperse the nufinish.

i put two capfuls in yesterday at lunch and let it run for 4 hrs while at work. when i had cases in there to start with, it clumped in some of the cases even with media in there.

i COULD have had too much too ;)

I don't use Nu Finish but any other polish that I use only takes a very small amount. And I also don't add the stuff on every tumble, seems to last for two or three tumbles before I add any more.

Two capfulls is way to much. One half to three quarters of a capful is plenty. Dribble it around on the top of the media and let set overnight or a few hours and the liquid carrier will dry out, you then have the polish and wax or whaterever the finish is left, this will help prevent tarnish.

You can do this with any of the popular liquid or paste car polishes. A little is good more is NOT better.

This is not rocket science folks, its only adding a little polish to corn cob or walnut media.

In my opion Snowboy you're using way to much, I used to do the same but shortly had C/C media that was packed with polish, if you picked up a few grainals between your finger and thunb and rubbed it you will see what I mean. But I also was at that time tumbling a few thousand cases a week.

Use it however you want, but I wonder how long it will work/polish correctly.

didn't have any problem yet, got about 2000 rds that way, when corn is not smelling NuFinish, I had another capful and it's like every 3-4 times. I put 3-400 cases (9mm & 357) at a time

I change the corn a way sooner than 30K rounds... I pay it $20 for 50 pounds so I don't try to extend its life... but I'll take your advice and check it once in a while

i put in a capful then let the tumbler run 20 minutes or so before I add brass....... and I only add more Nu Finish every fourth or fifth batch of brass I tumble....

A Little Goes A Long Way

Some time back, after first getting wind of Nu Finish, I added probably 2-3 ounces (that would 60-90 cc to you metricians), thinking this would charge up that Dillon Tumbler full of virgin corn cob media. I tumbled it for a good hour, then would up letting it sit in a wide tub in the open for several days waiting for it to fully dry because anything I put in it got coated with goo and grit. I can't believe I was that dumb :banghead: Finally, after drying well, it shines 'em up like new dollars. I probably won' have to add any to that batch in my lifetime... It's the old German in my background: "Klotzen, nicht kleckern."

I don't measure. I just pour it in with a little "guestimation" and let it tumble for a few minutes then add the brass and walk away for an hour or two...
