Ky does not require ATVs to have registration/tags. They are allowed to operatrae on secondary roads within so many tenths of a mile from your home. This is an agriculture law that is used as a loophole by people that are obviously not riding on roads for farming purposes.

I havent heard anything from the police, my neighbors told me this morning that they have heard no gunfire and seen no unfamiliar vehicles. All quiet for now.

mailbox

..if your mailbox gets whacked...get ready. The next tactic in "country casing" is to whack the boxes off, then see how quickly they get replaced.

We have a keyed lock on our mailbox. Its encased in masonry with rebar inside the brick. The man who taught my masonry class in high school gave me the brick and mortar for free and I built it when I had free time. Here's why.

There is a man that runs a barber shop off to the side of his house up the road in the middle of nowhere like everything else around here. He was telling me that one day he was drawn into a conversation about applying for his disability benefits, apparently in front of the wrong crowd of people. His mail started disappearing shortly thereafter, and got so bad that he would have to stop working for about half an hour to watch for the mailman so he could go straight to the box and get it. Turns out the thiefs were watching from the woods across the road, would call a buddy in a car just up the road by cell phone and he would pull in just after the mailman and empty the box. They were ‘ratted’ out when he supposedly stopped the driver of the car at gunpoint.

The funny thing was is that my barber wasn’t receiving any benefits at all, he was just talking about applying for it. All the thief’s were stealing were his bills. I’m not sure if the law ever got involved, i know its a federal offense and he was at risk of identity theft. This county is like Zombieland, but a closer look would show that its actually Pillhead-land.

I'm from KY, but a city boy. What does the crook learn from this information?

Ah. I guess I thought that would be easy information to determine otherwise. When your house is back from the road without much local traffic, maybe not.

It's just one of those things like in the city, it's not a good idea to let your newspapers pile up.

what a dummy.

He was obviously taking notes on who was home and when. His question about whether you have guns or not, probably more directed toward keeping himself from getting his chest aired out.

"Let's see here... this lady's not home, and if i see this car here, it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Better make sure it's this car, so i'll write down the plate number. What day is it? tuesday. Right. 4pm. Alrighty, on to the next house...oh golly, he's home, think fast... hey mister... do you have guns? Uh, er, bullets and stuff were all shooting at me and whatnot... whew, good thing i've got my trusty pistola here. And if the cops come, i'm just gonna skitter off into the woods on it where the cops can't follow me with their cars. Good excuse to conceal my face with a helmet, too!"

Wait a sec, I thought criminals never open carry? This guy can't be a criminal.

end thread.

The next time someone asks you a question you don't want to answer turn it around and ask them a question back.

First ask them - Who wants to know?

Next ask them - Whats it to ya?

Last is - None of your business.

The way an elderly friend used to put it was to pull out a pipe an look at it and then re-state the question like this.

So let me see if I heard you right now, you want to know if I own any guns?

Well I don't think we've met before. Who wants to know. etc you get the point.

I've got a few minutes to add my two cents.

I doubt the guy is a burglar. More than likely, he's a crazy neighbor.
I'd be clear to him if he shows up again that you don't want him on your property. Tell him your neighbor said she doesn't want him on her property. Call the police.
IMHO.
