Odd open carry...

Man I don't like morons like that. I was hiking with some friends the other weekend to some waterfalls. It's a decent hike--12 or so miles--and on our way back we met this guy who I guess they knew. He pulled off his shirt and stuck a pistol in a cheap (emphasis on cheap) nylon shoulder holster.
Real cool. Just kidding! ;)
I can just imagine what happened when he got to the waterfall-pool... "Well, lemme get in the water now; oh wait I can't because I will have to set down my gun around a dozen people I have never met and now each and every one of them knows I am carrying and I will make them feel all awkward / nervous if they aren't used to being around guns."
I also know this kid who always carries a Cold Steel that's about 8" everywhere.
Personally, I prefer to be unarmed and if someone tries to attack me (which is a minuscule chance to start off with), perhaps my ability to run faster than he will save my life. That or the years of Martial Arts training I have been graced with. :p

I wish you the best of luck, but I'd rather take no chances. Why would I (or you, for that matter) ?

Isn't it amazing that this thread sat dormant for 2 years until a thread necromancer made it dance again?

Domina, glad to hear that guy is doing well - 2 years later.

I don't have all the time to spare sitting in jail for my rights like hippies do for getting uppity.

Yeah, that civil disobedience concept really sucks, good thing everybody's too busy these days to actually fight for their rights.

What in the name of Art's Grammaw is this thread doing in S&T anyway?

Maybe, just maybe, it was a distraction for his concealed pistol?

That is a sweet pistol, maybe the money for the rig got sucked into the tag on the gun. Or maybe he didn't give a rip.
Maybe he's reading this post and enjoying his few minutes of fame.
Mr. Diversity,I'll drink this cold one to your uncanny selection of OCing a great gun, with an odd rig.

personally, I just dont like aiming a gun at my shoulder/bicep area when holstering and unholstering... when you get a shoulder rig that eliminates that little gem of an issue I will be interested....

they have their place... but for me it would be pretty far down the list.

It was...

And had it not wandered out of S&T territory into legal, political and everything else, it might be still.
