Officer Clark was shot and killed while responding to a silent alarm at a check cashing store on South Loop East. Officer Clark arrived less then four minutes after the alarm button was pushed. As he entered the store the suspects opened fire on him, striking him in the shoulder. He returned fire but his service weapon jammed after he fired the first shot. As he called for assistance one of the suspects shot him in the head execution style. The suspects then executed the female store clerk before fleeing. The three suspects were apprehended the following day.

Officer Clark was one day shy of his 20th anniversary with the Houston Police Department and was assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division. He is survived by his wife.

I hope the human scum that did this get what they deserve (though since they were picked up by police, i'm sure they did). The death penalty was created for animals like this.

150 or so years ago, a posse would have lit out after them. After a fair trial; they'd be hung and buried.......What's happened since April?????

That hurts. Another good one gone an not much can be done about it.

On the gun jam, it could have been a magazine not inserted properly and not locked in, failure to feed second round. Whatever it was he did not have time to clear it. Hopefully his department will find out what failed and prevent that from happening to someone else. Good case for carrying a back up weapon, although wounded he might not have been able to get to a back up, even if carrying one.

Only complaint I have about them is the language - criminals don't "execute" innocent people, they MURDER them!

I don't think that gun death obituaries (even those of LEOs) are automatically relevant...

Like some here, I'm a little curious as to your motivation for posting this? Is it to generate discussion on the merits of alarms? Is it to point out that police officers sometimes have a dangerous occupation? Is it to show us that criminals break the law? Is it because you knew this person, and there is some connection he had with our current date, that compels you to bring him back to our attention? Is it to let us know that another of the brotherhood of man has left us (albeit, months ago)? Inquiring minds want to know.
