I saw someone with aan oil can suppressor at the range today. Tried it out my 9mm and thought that it was pretty awesome other than its bulkiness and a few other factors. But it worked really well as a supressor.

I then went to the website and checked it out. Inexpensive adapter. Then u send u it and the oil filter. Of course after you paid your $200 tax stamp and wait the eternal time of course.

They went on to say that a serial number was engraved on the adapter and oil filter (same number) but that when the oil filter needed replacing. Send it back in and for $50 you would get a new one, with the number engraved and they would destroy the old one as per NFA requirments.

So my question is, why cant i get the the same oil filter, get the serial number etc engraved on it and destroy the old filter? As far as i can tell the NFa doesnt require any paperwork to be filed to do this. And once the old oil filter was destroyed, will law enforcement really know that anythinfs changed if i am asked to show the paperwork?

Btw i am asking out of curiosity as i am allready waiting on the paperwork to go through on a dead air odessa-9 and on a Ghost-M so dont really have a need for an oil filter suppressor

The simple answer is you will be manufacturing a suppressor without a license to do so.

I remind all members to observe the applicable laws when dealing with NFA items.
Yes, many things can be done illegally with little chance of being caught but we don't promote or entertain those activities here on THR.
