OK, how about the LARGEST handgun you ever owned

7mm WSM XP-100, 7T Pac-Nor 200 gr. ULD Wildcat was the biggest I ever wanted. Was a great shooter. Built by Kirby Allen up Montana way.

This is Mongo, my largest handgun. He weighs four and one half pounds. He is chambered in .45 P.I.T.A. A self explanatory acronym. A 45-70 case cut down to 1 1/2". I made Mongo a few years back out of scraps of steel and a barrel that Les gave me.

Obviously a copy of a Rolling block, with a few tweaks, all coil springs being one. I chambered Mongo with a drill bit :what: and screwed up my first attempt. Mongo was supposed to be a .45 Colt. A one size larger bit and a lot more care resulted in a serviceable chamber that the shortened 45-70 case fit in nicely.

My favorite load is a 385 gr 45-70 bullet ahead of all the 4227 that I can stuff in the case, about 18 grains Recoil is mild and I have no idea what the velocity is. Probably not more than 600-700 FPS, but judging by how hard it whacks my steel gong I'm guessing it packs a pretty good wallop.
I'd like to meet mongo, he looks like a fun chap!

My largest is my 7.5" sbh, my heaviest is my RI Tac Match 6" fully loaded it's 3lbs or so

Colt Walker, 2 15" XP100's in 7mm-08 and 35 Remington, Dan Wesson model 15 with 12" barrel, and Virginian Dragoon 357 mag with 12" barrel. I don't know which is biggest.

This is a fun thread!! And I'm already beat, but anyway, here's my biggies:

Excel Arms MP-22 on top; shoots 22 mag. FIE Texas Ranger on bottom; shoots 22 LR and 22 mag with swap-out cylinders. Both have 9 in barrels.

Products of my fun but cheap & junky firearms phase.

Not counting the ar pistol I’d have to say the ruger old vaquero 41 mag 7 inch barrel

largest is a 686 only because of the barrel length and weight: 0913191652.jpg

the largest by projectile thrown (weight and speed) is the blackhawk: 0101192025.jpg

murf

Largest ever for me would have been the T/C Encore with any one of its 14-inch pistol barrels. Behind that would be the 9.5-inch Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Magnum. Both are gone.

Largest still in the safe would be the Uberti Walker replica and the 7.5-inch Ruger Bisley Blackhawk Hunter, also in .44 Magnum.

I'll chime in with the other Uberti Walker folks. Real pretty gun done by Uberti. Now if only they could get that arbor right.

My Lynx AK is technically a pistol. Other than that, my Colt New Service in .45 Colt, 5.5 inch barrel.

Physical size would be my XP-100/Contender pistols, 14 inch barrels make them pretty large.
Now, c',mon, you're not going to show us a PICTURE!?!? That sounds like an awesome firearm, but I've never actually SEEN one!! (feeling deprived of a thrill)

I have a picture of one of them, my standard one when people talk about handgun accuracy. Expectations vary a lot with me, some 3 inches at 15 yards would be great and others 3 inches at 200 yards isn’t anything to write home about.

My largest legal handgun, by far, is the Daniel Defense DDM4 V7P, an AR15-based handgun, with a 10.3” barrel.

My largest handgun not based upon a rifle-sized action, would be either a 5.5” Ruger Redhawk I owned in the Eighties, or my Ruger Super GP100, which is based upon the Super Redhawk frame, and has a 5.5” barrel.

My Dan Wesson 744 when wearing the 8" barrel is actually considerably bigger and heavier than my L5 Desert Eagle. Even with the extra weight AND the muzzle brake attached the 744 kicks harder than the L5 DE.
