Ok own up. Who admits to watching sons of guns

The one show I watched a couple years ago one "employee" was tasked with cutting down a double barrel shotgun to min barrel length. Guy throws gun in vise, whips out his 12" hack saw and goes to town. Muzzle is about as straight as my old cat. Head dude comes in yells and stuff, then guy slaps muzzle on belt sander. WAH-LAA! Complete. Gunsmithing 101. Wow.

I'll take one of the survival shows or the gold mining shows anytime over Son of Guns. Have watched it, but seldom do anymore. Give me old episodes of NCIS or Star Trek and I'm there if I'm not doing anything particularly special. River Monsters is a show that I really like. I find it pretty interesting.

Yeah I also watch but find it to be more and more scripted. Their problems with the SOCOMs and how it would close their business was kinda a tipping point for me though, as I know that they are severely backordered on a lot of their "unique" products and custom work and Will Hayden was in San Antonio the other day at a car dealership... wonder how much he got for that. Oh and they talk about money problems but they whip out a fully custom HUMMER with rotating turret... Here is a thought SELL YOUR STUPID HUMMER!!!!

I watch, I don't get to hung up on the drama, I just like to watch things to bang, and boom. They have some cool toys, and I get to watch stuff blow up. I put up with a lot of stupid in other movies and TV shows to get to that, don't figure its any worse to watch SoGs!

I fish an episode out every now and then from ye olde bay of pirates, and yes, pretty much everything is ridiculously scripted. I guarantee you that they do not actually do actual gunsmithing during the show; its mostly relatable "work" while the cameras are rolling; bench grinders and angle saws make pretty sparks for the camera. However, flem has a neat youtube channel and has some pretty cool videos.

just an example vid of a MG34

I like it. But I don't focus on guns. I like watching the turmoil associated with trying to run a small business in the real world.

Everything is not perfect, but I find the "business" aspect interesting.

By the way, I admire the heck out of anyone running a small business. Until you do so, you just cannot imagine.

May have watched a few episodes, in much the same sort of manner that many gawk at accident scenes.:scrutiny:

I enjoy watching it, but I treat it like cotton candy. That is that it is fun to look at and fun to want, but it has no real value as it dissolves into nothing as soon as it is put in the mouth.

I do enjoy the crazy ideas from the first two seasons, but the rest of it kind of lost me. I do not get into scripted drama/reality show B.S. I also do not like looking at prima dona's like some of the people in that show. I have had the "pleasure" to work with people like that, and had to clean up after them. I did get an idea or two for "when I have more money than sense" projects, but those days are not here YET. lol.

I run two small businesses. Neither is a clown shop as the show portrays. I have only watched the one episode, so hard for me to judge - but it sure seemed extremely poorly run.

when they chopped up a M1919 Browning to make a hand held for a big dude I quit watching....have you ever checked out prices on their website ?...outa sight !

Ok, I admit that I watch the show even after swearing to be off it a couple of times. Maybe I need rehab. :p

On the entertainment scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate it about a 4.5. Not the best reality show around but a lot better than some my wife makes me watch. Appears that the show producers do not want to get too technical with the firearm mods that they show in case some nutcase decides to build a cannon in his basement.

I hadn't watched it for a couple of years but just caught up on it this season when there was a marathon. I actually enjoyed it more this go around. They all seem a bit more mature and less fake than they used too but maybe the prospect of losing the business will do that.

However, that ex-employee of their's seems to be a real piece of chubby garbage.

It's crap IMO. Makes the public think every gun sold is a black gun being modified to be a even badder gun sold to stupid people blowing things up everytime they shoot. If the publics image is every gun owner is like the clowns on this show more gun laws will get passed.

This is simply unrealistic to me. How many anti-gun or gun-disinterested people do you think watch the show? People with no interest in guns are simply not going to be watching the show in any significant numbers. I suspect the only people who watch it are people who already have made up their minds about guns and like them and they probably aren't going to change their minds due to a silly TV show. There were only 1.3 million people watching the show on the 17th. Hardly a large portion of the viewing public.

Bottom line is it shows the average gun owner in a unrealistic light. It just adds to the goofy shoot em up image the public has of gun owners. Add this to the negative publicity the media heaps on. So if someone who has no exsperiance with guns watches, they see: Customer comes in looking for a black rifle. Full auto is better. Abrasive owner argues with employees. Employees argue with each other. Some blasting goes on in the indoor range. Everyone jumps in the Hummer, Duce1/2, or what ever and proceeds to range and the targets EXSPLODE. Thats not my or anyone I know gun and range experience. But Joe Public sees that and what do they think. Gun owners are nutz.

Seriously...why do people even complain about television being full of "reality" shows, or that everything is "scripted"...well...duh. Do you think you're informing us of some great secret? We all know it's mostly scripted or forced into a certain presentation. I watch the show if I happen upon it....as I also do with top shot and what ever other gun show I happen to catch on. If you're going to do nothing but complain about the shows on television...then get rid of your television. Take it for what it is...mindless entertainment. So, if my choices consist of mindless entertainment or mindless entertainment with guns, then I'll choose the latter.

Like TopShot much better - and yeah its mostly scripted nonesense, but hey - can watch it with wife -n- sons who all enjoy it, even if it is goofy... Wouldn't be doing the family view with crap like Desperate Housesluts or 2-1/2 buttheads...
