Ok own up. Who admits to watching sons of guns

I just watched a show about a gun shop in Alaska, and they modified a Ruger No. 1 (?) rifle to chamber and fire a .500 Nitro Express round for some nitwit. That one REALLY made me cringe.

I honestly enjoyed the first couple episodes of the 1st season, but then - like all "reality" shows - they abandoned the guns, and went for the drama. I wonder who's watching the show now  They only show about 5 minutes of actual guns over the course of the show. Lame.

+ 1,000!

The more I see of Will lately, and how he treats everyone, except the big-money customers at the 'blow up a truck' test fire range?

The less inclined I would be to ever spend a dime at his place of business.

How any business owner could think this kind of TV exposure is good for business is way beyond my comprehension!

I doubt he is thinking very much. He's just basking in the limelight and enjoying being a 'personality'.

I've noticed, Ive never seen so many guns get built without the use of a lathe, mill and CNC machine, yet the overuse of cut off wheels.

I believe it is a dorky show, but they are helping RKBA by keeping guns in the forefront of the American mind.

I agree.
If I were in town and needed work done, I'd take it to Vince's shop. He was the best they had anyway.

I'll admit to watching Sons of Guns. Yeah, it's reality TV and geared for entertainment, but it's fun.

True! It's in the minds of antis that every time you pull a trigger something blows up and full autos are simple to come by. No thanks. I'd rather guns be a secret than exploited like this. True, antis don't line up to watch the show, but like all TV and the internet in general, once aired, it never disappears and continues to feed those looking for something to be upset about.

ANY gun show that my wife WANTS to watch regularly with me will get DVR'd!
Note; She does have some taste...she abhorred 'American Guns', but loves both 'Sons Of Guns' and 'Guntucky'. She also used to watch the 2009 Showtime series called Lock'N'Load (The Shootist gun store in Colorado.....not the same as R. Lee Ermey's Lock'n'Load).
The only thing she does not like about the current season of SOG, is that they now only play the one line of Tab Benoit's 'Shelter Me'. Love that song and it was a great intro.
.

The first TV shows I remember from 1950s North Dakota were professional wrestling. You had good guys and villains, and lots of chest beating. A lot of TV still follows the same pattern.

If it weren't for DVR I wouldn't watch Sons of Guns. With it I can skip through the bull and look at the neat toys they get to play with. I really enjoyed watching Stephanie fire the Solothurn. She seems to have fun with her job and I think it's great to see more women involved.

The last episode I skipped through had the Olympic shooting team come through. They built some pretty but garish custom AKs for them, and I enjoyed watching them play with the new toys.

Watch the interesting parts, skip over the stupidity and be grateful they show folks having fun with guns.

A train wreck of drama queen hacksaw jockeys.

Totally fake, completely scripted, and an insult to the shooting community.

Think of it as an IQ test, if you've watched more than 15 minutes of it.......you fail.

Seems that many people on here think that those of us who do watch it are a bunch of morons? Really? I can't stand Seinfeld or Two and A Half Men either - but I'm not on a forum saying that people who watch are stupid....
That said - I've watched every episode with my wife. Is there too much drama in some cases - yes. Considering that you can't buy anything from RJF without waiting for 6 months - the whole "socom" thing is ridiculous. And I would bet that they don't show exactly how they do things - both for proprietary and TV liability reasons. But it is a TV SHOW - just like other TV shows. I don't hear many people complaining when Chuck Norris shoots a Mac 10 on full auto in each hand - and holds the trigger long enough to empty 20 magazines - without a change.....

I have a measured IQ of 137. I'm pretty sure I passed.

If you're going to insult us for our opinions then maybe you should find a better topic than TV viewing tastes.

I watched it once.
That was enough.
And I had a measured IQ of 140 :neener:
Of course, that was almost 40 years ago, when I had a lot fewer bad habits...or at least, hadn't had them for as long.

Hell I can slap an upper on a complete lower and say I build guns. What's so hard about that?

I happend to browse through the channels and saw part of a Sons of Guns episode.

Worst mistake ever! Like watching an afternoon soap opera, but with overacting guys with guns

I have watched it on occasion just to see what guns come through some times it is pretty cool. But all the complaints about the drama I second. It would be nice to see more gun and less talking.

Yes.
When a hotel room tv selection has no good sci-fi or decent adventure movie, it passes some time.
Very late start with guns, only since early '08 (age 52). Many of you guys seem to be experts in a few areas.

Recently finished reading "Lone Survivor" (Marcus Luttrell) and "American Sniper" (the late Chris Kyle), so why not?

Just started watching it again. Chris got big!

I watch it for a few reasons:

-Chris yelling something funny
-To find out how the sky is falling this time
-Is the new guy retarded?
-Watch vince stick it to em
-Cannons

I DVR it so I can fast forward through the repeat parts and around the 30 second segments they like to do so much.
