Okay, I think I am going to buy a 9mm

I have many, BHPs, Sigs, CZs, Taurus 92, and now an HKUSP. I feel comfortable with all of them. I would handle several at a gun range and go for the one you can shoot. If only one then go BHP because there are so many after market parts that will make it fit.

Great choice in the 226

A friend of mine recently purchased a used Sigsaur P226 and it is one of the more fun 9mm I have shot. It shoots fast and accurately. We raced the Sig against a Norinco AK-47 .223, 15 rounds in each, and it was really close.

If you go with a CZ PCR you will be very well pleased unless you are weird and unredeemable. Excellent product.

Also, CZ makes a 22 conversion unit called the Kadet for about $225 that is first rate.
Of the alternatives listed, not all can make that claim.

If you're considering a compact I just purchased a SW99 compact 9mm and I'm having fun with this thing. It's very accurate and reliable with whatever ammo I put through it whether 115, 124, 135, 147 gr. FMJ or hollow points, whatever brand, it doesn't matter.

Tons of options in 9mm. If it fits your hand, Beretta 92FS. It's ergonomics are perfect for me. I am also planning my next purchase for either a G19 or a USPc9, both of which I think are great weapons.

I shoot a Hi Power with a Tasco Red Dot, it is extremly accurate but I dont care for the stock trigger, I will be getting a trigger job...I shoot 25 yd and closer.....

question for all....I have been told that 1911 45 acp is inherently more accurate than 9mm....is this true...?

love my 9 and looking to buy another
what is so great about the Sig P226...

thanks SX1guy

I've got a couple of Browning Hi-Power forties (one polished blue standard and one silver chrome). They both have had wonderful trigger jobs and shoot magnificently. They feel in the hand is unbeatable. So feeling the need for a 9mm which is larger than my PM-9, I just ordered a new FN Hi-Power in 9mm from CDNN ($399!).

I handled a couple of Sig 226's today in a gunshop and while I don't deny that they are probably quite reliable and accurate, I just don't think they can hold a candle to the feel of a Hi-Power. The 226 didn't feel as natural in the hand and seemed quite utilitarian/industrial compared to the finesse and feel of the Hi-Power. And the Hi-Power is a remarkably reliable platform as well. Both of my forties are about as reliable as the sun and are a dream to shoot. Obviously, the Hi-Power is possibly the most widely used 9mm in the world and has been for decades. Glock may be or may have taken over that title at this point, but they're nowhere near the same gun.

If you're looking for recommendations, I'd suggest you bag another Hi-Power with some 13-round mags. CDNN has just a few FN's left at $399 which is a steal indeed. FN's are indentical to Brownings except for the rollmarks. FN owns Browning and has been the manufacturer of Brownings all along (they're made on the same assembly line in Belgium).

Recently FN has decided to market it's Hi-Powers for the US market under the Browning name only, so the remaining FN brand Hi-Powers already in the USA were sent to CDNN to clear stock. For the Browning rollmark you'll pay about $650 for a new Mk III. Same gun with FN rollmarks from CDNN is $399. Too good to pass up.

Right now there are a limited number of Glock 17L longslide pistols being imported.
I have one ordered and I think they about the ultimate 'fun gun' in 9mm.
I also have a Sig P226 and it is an exellent pistol as well. Recoil is very soft and acuracy is fantastic.

If you are going to buy a 9mm just to shoot, then blow the cash and get a really good one.

I am quite fond my one of my Sig 210's. This little guy is great at the range and really fun to shoot. It usually draws a mild crowd at the range among the "knowing".
