The oldest longarm I have is a model 1840 Springfield Armory .69 caliber flintlock musket made in 1841. Technically not a rifle though as she is smoothbore, but where it comes to age she wins in my collection hands down.

Next oldest I have is a Colt 1861 special contract musket made in 1862 for the US Civil War. Now this one is rifled. You can see it in this shot with other black powder handguns I have.

Plastikomd, Thank you for sharing the photos. Excellent! I really enjoyed the dated targets, what a treasure to say the least.

According to the buttstock markings, it was apparently initially issued to the 24th Regiment of Foot:

I have a sporterized Rock Island Arsenal 1903 made in 1913 with matching barrel and bolt dates. The floor plate has NRA stamped in it. The barrel is dark, but I am working on it, but if I can find another 1913 barrel, I would like to swap it, as the original barrel has the front sight changed, and a dovetail slot was added to mount the rear sight.
I wish surplus stocks were available at a reasonable price, as it would give it the propper look.
