Imagine this. You're a father with an awesomely gorgeous 18 year old daughter. Halloween night, she decides to go to a party in the hood wearing a G-string and a sexy top. You know the type of guys that will be there. You allow her to go as she is. She gets raped. Are you to blame legally? No, you are not. Could you have prevented the crime by responsibly guiding your daughter’s behavior? Quite probably, you could have.

At least you are logically consistent. I guess you think it is the rape victim's fault.

Your analogy is not even close to the situation though. He left the gun for a specific purpose for his ex-wife and left it in a closet for her.

That's like a woman who is extremely attractive walking around her own neighborhood in her everyday clothing. The guy didn't even "advertise" as you seem to imply when you are blaming the rape victim in your example.

Huh? I'm saying it's neither the rape victim's fault, nor her father's fault...legally.

Blame is what you care about. However, you're not recognizing the heightened level of responsibility as a gun owner. Also, it's apparent you didn't read my prior posts for other options for the wife and for other people in a similar situation.

I read all your posts. Your alternative suggestions were unrealistic, and you still don't even seem to have grasped the basic facts of the original report. You wrote that the ex step-father left six handguns "laying around." Then you wrote that hiding them was irresponsible because any doped up burglar would know right where to look for them ... ignoring the fact that his former step-son was unable to find them after being alone in the house for an hour. Heck -- ex step-dad might not even have hidden them on-site, he might have put them in a safe deposit box at the bank.

You are just doing the gun grabbers' work for them, making it seem that it's the gun owner's fault when a firearm is stolen and used in a crime. Whatever measures the owner took, the antis will always claim it wasn't enough, and you seem ready to join the chorus.

You do what you think is "reasonable" to secure your guns, and I'll do what I consider is "reasonable" to secure mine. But the issue is that that pesky Constiution says the right to KEEP and bear arms shall not be infringed. That means, regardless of what you, I, the Pope, or Mother Theresa thinks is a reasonable way to store guns, the Constitution says I can do it any damned way I want.

Analogy time, since we love analogies...

You constructed a nuclear bomb. You lock your house where the fire button is. Somebody breaks into your house and pushes the button and starts a nuclear war. Hey, you're not to blame, right? No, technically, you're not. However, your level of responsibility was certainly not commensurate with the amount of power you had.

By the way, quote me, Aguila. Don't paraphrase me because you're not good at it.
