If you could have just one pistol chambered in 45 ACP, which would you choose?

Do not overthink this. You have the rest of your collection and can buy other guns. Whatever the situation is, you can have just one pistol in 45 ACP. That means you could build a P320 in 45 with various slides and grip modules, trade with friends, or sell it off and buy another.

Assume that the limit is not legal, but for some sort of personal reason such as being a diehard 357 Magnum fan keeping a little bit of sin on the side in secret.

A 1911 of some sort. I have a revolver and an HK45 but the 1911 would be the one I would miss the most.

COLT 1911 in .45 ACP with trigger job and Novak front and rear sights and tricked out just a bit. No problem. I own one.

Some days, the NHC Enforcer wins; others it's my Glock 21. Then there is the P220 that keeps popping up...

The G21 has the advantage over all others in that I know how to fix common problems.

Colt Government Model Series 70, Combat Commander or a Gold Cup. If it could be only the one.

That's like asking what single gun for 45 colt. SAA, 1911. Clones thereof.

I have a pirate build 2011 .45 that I like the notion of, but it has its limits.
So I would choose a really nice deluxe version of same.

Another vote for the 1911. I have several. If limited to one, it would be the Kimber Lightweight. Was on sale for $700 and feeds everything from ball to my LSWC reloads. Not a fancy pistol but I'm impressed. The only thing I don't like is the front slide serrations.

    Some variety of 1911.

I like the trigger pull and the overall package very well. And I have small hands for a guy, so a double stack .45 is not appealing to me.

The one upper left, although any of them would suffice.

I have just the one pistol in .45. I use it for concealed carry and competed IDPA with it. Volkmann 1.jpg

S&W Mod 25---.45acp--- would be my choice for only one .45acp gun.

No thinking required as I only have one.

Beware, for it has no soul.

Tough call. Even though I have a couple great SIG P-220s and a sweet 227 Carry, plus my old issue S&W M&P-45, it'd be a 1911. Probably just some version of the original, just to honor the American heritage of the .45 ACP, no bells and whistles...

My Springfield Armory 1911-A1 mil-spec. Smooth, accurate as heck and utterly reliable. That's mine.Have a 1873 Pietta .45 Colt that came with a .45 acp cylinder that pretty neat.
    But, it ain't no 1911!

A 1911 of course. All those others are just pretenders.
