No, it wasnt dancing around dressed like a catholic school girl.
It was something worse... MUCH worse.
Caryn and I had to run by my project managers house to pick up some supplies for my job next week.
Along the route is one of the 2 gun shops in this state I make it a point to stop by every chance I get.
This is the shop mnw42 told me about a few months back, where I FINALLY found a Detonics Combat Master.
He saw I was looking for one and shot me a message about where to find it.

ANYWAY...
Just stopped in to see if they had anything new in, drooled at the LAR Grizzly in .45 Win Mag again, looked at a nice Star Model BM, and they had a Radom.
When out of the corner of my eye I see a funky looking hammer, all curled over and hook looking.
I froze, then pointed it out to Caryn.
Laying there in the middle of the blued and parked steel... and swimming in a sea of polymer was a small shiny 1911.
Yes, this little gun shop had gotten in another Combat Master.
We were staring down at it... the price tag had another pistol laying on it.
All we could make out was 9.99.
Hell, it wouldnt hurt to look it over and drool on it a little bit.
The salesman wandered over and I pointed out which pistol I wanted to look at.
He hands it over... small, shiny, gleaming.
I thumb the hammer back and work the slide.
Smooth...
Placing my thumb between the hammer and slide I press the trigger... SNAP... nice and crisp.
Reluctantly I turn the price tag around so we can see it.
I look over at Caryn and she has these cute little micro nods going on.
If you dont pay attention... you dont notice.
I smiled.
SO... we put it on layaway.
Another one that was carried some but not fired much.
Out of a 2 decade long dry spell and now I will have 2 of them within a couple of months of each other.
And now... for some crappy cell phone pics.

And the picture with the reason we nabbed it.
The $499.99 price tag.

I also noticed that the ONLY markings on the pistol are the Detonics Assocs Seattle Wa... and the serial number.
No DETONICS stamp on the slide... No .45 ACP...
Nothing.
Oh yea, it also has the original magazine.
I didnt even ask about others... any paperwork... or if it had the gun rug.
I really didnt care.

It is home now, and it is a totally different animal than CM #1.
This one has the adjustable rear sight, pachmayr arched MSH, pachmayr wrap around grips, higher profile hammer, hard chrome finish, no markings or engraving on the slide...
This one is all business.

Rear Sight Question?

Nice Pair of Pistols, but I have a question. Why is the rear sight moved so close to the Ejection port? That gun would have had a short sight radius already, so Why would Detonics shorten it even more?

The slide is cut away at the rear and the sight moved forward to make the hammer easier to thumb cock while drawing. If the hammer were down, the spur would protrude above the side a little. It was more fashionable at the time (late 1970s, IIRC) than now. This was one of the first short 1911s, predating the Colt Officer's ACP by several years; it may well have inspired that gun.

Correct.
And the sight radius is better than the snubby revolvers that are so popular.
Not that it is intended to be a target pistol, it is more of a bad breath distance one.

Run--don't walk--but run out and buy yourself a Lottery ticket right NOW! If lightning can strike you twice in such a short time, maybe it'll hit again! And congrats on the guns and on having a most understanding Lady.
